ITERGO relies on a 24/7 Smart Terminal for the internal distribution of goods
"Set it up, set it up and it worked" is the simple formula that Udo Schäfer, Head of Output Management of the Infrastructure & Operations Global division at ITERGO Informationstechnologie GmbH in Düsseldorf, uses when he thinks back to the installation of the 24/7 Smart Terminal.
The preparation process was also completed quickly, "because the system has been in full operation for a year now and runs in continuous operation," Schäfer emphasizes. The 24/7 Smart Terminal forms the bridge from the Print Media Center to the individual departments of the Ergo Group in Düsseldorf and has digitalized the processes there and thus simplified them considerably: The order for the Print Media Center arrives electronically in the system. As soon as the product has been manufactured, an e-mail is sent to the client informing him that his order is ready in the terminal. The mail also contains a PIN code, which only allows the authorized recipient to pick up the goods at the terminal. This process is fully automated.
"In terms of size and number, the individual compartments fit our requirements perfectly," concludes Schäfer, "because the terminals can be individually adapted, so that printed products can be stored in all sizes. He speaks of an enormous simplification of the processes and significant time savings when he lists the advantages. "It is impossible to imagine our processes without the terminal," says Schäfer. Even minor adjustments were made during ongoing operations, "but basically the system ran 100 percent directly".

The smart terminals can also be the core of so-called hub solutions for collecting goods at central locations and then delivering them to their destination in bundles. The 24/7 Smart Terminals are already being used successfully in companies, municipalities, housing association projects and in the retail sector.
