Precautionary measure at Messe Frankfurt: Covid-19

Some of the information appearing in the media on the virus Covid-19 has been misleading. You can find the latest facts and information on the World Health Organisation website: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019

The world's leading consumer goods fair Ambiente with 4,635 exhibitors and about 108,000 visitors took place in Frankfurt from 7. - 11. February. People from nearly 160 nations were represented. There were no medical incidents related to the Covid-19.

Due to the increasing spread of the corona virus in Europe, Messe Frankfurt decided to postpone Light + Building after intensive consultations. The world's leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology will be held between mid and end of September. The cooperation partners of the international trade fair, ZVEI and ZVEH, support this decision.

The unexpected appearance of Covid-19 in Italy required a new evaluation of the situation in close cooperation with the Frankfurt Health Department. A multi-stage health check of trade fair visitors from China is required, which cannot be realised by Messe Frankfurt. In addition, there are increasing travel restrictions that make it more difficult for potential visitors and exhibitors alike to attend the trade fair. For this reason, the trade fair is being postponed and will be held between mid and end of September 2020.

MF is in close and constant contact with the health authorities and is implementing their recommendations and instructions accordingly. All our subsidiaries worldwide are also basing their actions on the recommendations and instructions of the relevant local authorities.

Regardless of the current situation, there is a very high standard of immediate medical assistance here on the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt:

Messe Frankfurt has a well-coordinated emergency management system in place at all times.
Messe Frankfurt’s Operation & Security Center (OSC) serves as a base for representatives of the police and fire brigade, the German Red Cross and security services.
In the event of medical emergencies, there are multiple treatment rooms available, as well as medical devices for treating emergencies.
For large trade fairs, multiple doctors and paramedics are on hand in the OSC who have been trained in dealing with infectious diseases.
On all days of the event, a safety meeting with all safety organisations and authorities will usually be held shortly before the start of the event.
A hotline for exhibitors and visitors is still available on 069/7575-3335 and 069/7575-5364. The hotline staff will answer your questions about the Coronavirus.

As a precautionary measure, Messe Frankfurt has increased its already high standards for cleaning high-traffic areas on the exhibition grounds such as entrances, door handles and escalator handrails.

Furthermore, additional disinfectant dispensers have been positioned around the exhibition grounds.

Rescue personnel are also present and easily identifiable throughout the exhibition halls and ready to provide expert assistance for customers and visitors alongside hosts, hostesses, service and security personnel.
