Ricoh honored at 2014 Oracle Excellence Awards

Ricoh recipient of the Fusion Middleware Innovation Award in Oracle AppAdvantage

Ricoh Americas Corporation was recently named a winner at the 2014 Oracle Excellence Awards. Oracle recognized the winners at Oracle OpenWorld 2014, its annual event for business decision-makers, IT management, and line-of-business end users in San Francisco, October 1, 2014.

The Oracle Excellence Awards for Fusion Middleware Innovation honors Oracle customers for cutting-edge solutions using Oracle Fusion Middleware. Winners are selected based on the uniqueness of their business case, business benefits, level of impact relative to the size of the organization, complexity and magnitude of implementation and the originality of architecture.

With Ricoh's acquisition of IKON Office Solutions in 2008, there was an opportunity to create a more streamlined organization. Specifically, the company needed to merge several massive Oracle environments, requiring a long-term IT strategy that would combine the best aspects of each company's technology. There was a desire to tap different resources and cloud applications to help all employees bring efficiencies into the workforce, especially in the area of sales. The overall architecture Ricoh implemented is easy-to-use, more efficient due to the use of cloud-based applications, and offers access to more services for the customer.

"We are honored to recognize Ricoh for excellence in applying Oracle solutions to achieve bottom-line results," said Jeb Dasteel, Oracle Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. "Winners of this year's Oracle Excellence Awards continue a legacy of dedication, discovery and innovation around Oracle technology, and we celebrate their success in driving business value and industry advancement."

Balaji Rangaswamy, CIO, Ricoh Americas Corporation, served as the primary driver for the technology and budget decisions involved with the integration plan. "It's an honor to have this implementation recognized by Oracle," said Rangaswamy. "The big-picture focus was always on enabling access to information, whether for Ricoh employees, customers or partners. The success of this implementation further validates Ricoh's leadership in helping our employees and customers succeed in a new world of work. As a global technology leader, we are committed to having the most knowledgeable sales force in order to best serve our customers' evolving needs."

Ricoh is a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork.
