Galaxy VL: Schneider Electric introduces three-phase UPS for industrial applications

- Modular, scalable three-phase UPS design for greater power and process efficiency

- 50 per cent more compact than the market average
- Patented "Live Swap" touch-safe design for improved employee protection and higher availability in critical applications

Schneider Electric is expanding its portfolio of three-phase UPS systems with the Galaxy VL for industrial applications. The latest member of the Galaxy series is available worldwide and covers a power range from 200 to 500 kW. In the patented ECOnversion mode, the compact and robust UPS achieves an efficiency of up to 99 percent. Depending on the model, the ECOnversion mode enables a complete amortisation of the investment costs within two years. With the Galaxy VL, Schneider Electric also introduces the "Live Swap" feature. This ensures contact safety when adding or exchanging power modules, so that the UPS can remain continuously online without danger to employees even during maintenance. Schneider Electric will present the new Galaxy VL in detail at Hannover Messe from 12 to 16 April 2021.
"The new, energy-efficient Galaxy VL sets a high standard for UPS innovation. It is designed to help industrial customers maximise production output while minimising downtime and total cost of ownership," said Mustafa Demirkol, VP, 3-Phase Global Offer Management at Schneider Electric. "We are addressing the needs of industrial companies to increase energy and process efficiency while improving the resilience and reliability of production lines. As a Green Premium product, the Galaxy VL also provides best-in-class power protection while being designed for sustainable operation and integration into recycling, reuse, circular economy and traceability programmes."
Benefits of the new Galaxy VL
More space for critical production equipment: the Galaxy VL is the most compact UPS in its class and at 0.8 m2 is 50 per cent more compact than the market average. It thus meets all requirements for an uninterruptible power supply in space-constrained industrial environments. In addition, the Galaxy lithium-ion battery cabinets offer space savings of up to 70 percent compared to VRLA battery solutions.
Rugged design for harsh environments: Designed for high operating temperatures of up to 40°C, the integrated dust filters, a conformal coating on critical PCBA boards and earthquake-proof system protection ensure stable operation even in harsh environments at all times.
Cost savings: The Galaxy VL's modular, scalable platform enables growth as needed, reducing capital and operating costs, energy consumption and total cost of ownership. Output can be scaled in 50 kW increments from 200 to 500 kW at any time without requiring additional space.
Achieve sustainability goals: Up to 99 per cent efficiency in ECOnversion mode ensures full payback of investment costs in terms of energy savings within two years. As a "Green Premium" product from Schneider Electric, there is of course also the option to use long-life lithium-ion batteries.
Increased reliability through EcoStruxure: By connecting the Galaxy VL to EcoStruxure - Schneider Electric's open, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture and platform - industrial companies can benefit from dedicated software and service solutions. With EcoStruxure offerings, customers are able to monitor, manage and model their IT infrastructure, as well as receive 24/7, anywhere support. Galaxy VL is available worldwide and can be purchased directly from Schneider Electric.
