Red Dot Award for UVC Air Sterilizer of Dr. Hönle AG

The UVC air sterilizer SteriWhite Air Q115 from the UV expert has been awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021.

A jury consisting of 50 international experts, including desi- gners, professors and journalists, has selected this year's winners of the Red Dot Award for Product Design. One of them is the Q115 UVC air sterilizer, which was developed by Gräfel nger Dr. Hönle AG together with its subsidiary Sterilsystems GmbH in early 2020.
From the jury's statement: "[...] The timelessly designed housing is made of powder-coated light-colored sheet steel. The device can be set upright or mounted on the wall. [...] With its distinctive design and innovative disinfection technology, which does not require chemicals and does not produce ozone or other harmful substances, SteriWhite Air Q115 meets all the requirements of a contemporary air sterilizer."
And indeed, the SteriWhite Air Q115 is far more than just decorative: the highly ective room air sterilizer reliably inactivates germs in the air, whether mold spores, bacteria or viruses, such as SARS CoV-2. The principle is as simple as it is effective: the room air is directed by very quiet fans into the interior of the housing and there past a UVC low-pressure lamp. The short-wave UVC rays destroy the genetic information of the microorganisms so that they cannot reproduce any further. Light traps prevent UV radiation from escaping, so the SteriWhite Air Q 115 can be used without hesitation in rooms where people are present. What also distinguishes the UVC air purifier from other air purifiers is its very good energy efficiency and the absence of hidden costs: until the lamp is replaced after several years, it requires no maintenance whatsoever, and there is no need to replace filters, for example.
"We are very pleased to receive this award, especially because the SteriWhite Air Q115 was designed in-house in every respect, from the technology to the exterior," said a delighted Heiko Runge, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Dr. Hönle AG. "When Corona appeared on the world stage, our primary concern was to find a solution that could help contain the spread of the virus." That's why it was clear that the design had to be unobtrusive and timeless so that it would visually fit well in any space, from a doctor's office to a classroom. Winning the Red Dot Award now confirms that this goal has been achieved.
The SteriWhite Air Q115 can be viewed at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, from Thursday, June 24, 2021.
