LightCon to be postponed to early summer 2022

The new LightCon event planned for early October 2021 has been postponed. The new date of LightCon is early summer 2022.

In view of the declining Corona figures, generally trade shows can be held again in fall. However, in the view of the trade show organizers in Hannover, this applies primarily to established trade shows that have already been staged for several years. In order to stage a successful premiere event, other general conditions are required that are not yet in place. The organizers and the advisory board of the new cross-material, cross-technology and cross-user conference fair LightCon have therefore agreed to postpone the start of the new event. The premiere of LightCon is now planned for May/June 2022.

"Presenting the topic of lightweight construction overarching is a new approach in the trade show world. Discussions with our exhibitors and partners have shown that the market is ripe, but the Corona-related uncertainties must be taken into account. Unfortunately, a start in October is not feasible under the current conditions,"explains Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG.

Nevertheless, the organizers believe in the concept and the associated opportunities to bring the lightweight community together at LightCon 2022.

Not only the demand for lightweight products, but also the supply is developing at high growth rates. Lightweight technologies are crucial for the performance and competitiveness of the economy, especially against the backdrop of the increasing importance of energy and resource efficiency. Especially multi-material lightweight construction is predicted to have a great future in the automotive industry, aerospace, mechanical and plant engineering, the construction industry, but also in the medical sector. In short, lightweight construction is one of the most important growth markets in the future and also offers good opportunities for small and medium-sized companies.

The trade fair is supported, among others, by Composites United as a founding partner as well as by the German Federal Ministry of Economics, which invests large amounts of funding in the topic of lightweight construction in order to advance Germany in this area.
