New opportunities for Nickel alloys – win the first Alleima Innovation Prize 2023

In conjunction with the first Annual General Meeting for Alleima, in Sandviken, Sweden, three employees received an Innovation Prize. The justification reads: "For their outstanding work in exploring opportunities to expand our business into high Ni grades.”

For the first time ever, an innovation prize was awarded at the Alleima first Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Sandviken. The 2023 Alleima Innovation Prize was awarded to Bertil Walden, Principal Engineer and Technical Project Manager, Daniel Sjöholm, Process and Technology Manager, Steel Plant, Primary Products and Ulf Edling, Senior Procurement Manager - Special Metallurgy and Alloys.

The motivation for this year's winners is:
The Alleima Innovation Prize 2023 is awarded for outstanding development work related to the production of high Ni grades. Through dedicated work, teamwork, and metallurgical expertise, we have made a major leap in our production capabilities for remelted high Ni grades. Several innovative concepts were developed and implemented to expand our vacuum arc remelting (VAR) capabilities, enable cost-efficient production, and meet stringent requirements for chemistry control and high purity.

"This year's winners are excellent ambassadors of the Alleima core value "We Evolve" by committing to challenge old truths and continuously explore new opportunities to drive and advance innovation," says Göran Björkman, President and CEO, who is also a member of the jury.

"We have received a very good selection of nominations, both for new products and new process developments. This looks very promising for the future. The jury would like to congratulate our winners and finalists," says Tom Eriksson, EVP and Head of Strategic Research.

The Alleima Innovation Prize is awarded to employees who have developed the most innovative product or process in recent years. The prize consists of a diploma, a trophy, and a lump sum of 0.5 pbb, per person.

Big congratulations to the winners of the Alleima Innovation Prize 2023!
