Huawei Receives Best of Show Awards in Enterprise Networking and Data Center and Storage at Interop Tokyo 2014

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, participated in Interop Tokyo 2014 and received special awards in two categories of the Best of Show Awards under the Enterprise Networking category for its agile switch S12700 and the Data Center and Storage category for its Oceanstor Universal Distributed Storage (UDS).

IT experts assessed for the most outstanding network products that address the current industry trends in the Japanese IT market from solutions presented by almost three hundred companies. Huawei has received awards at Interop Tokyo for two consecutive years and won the Best of Show Special Award for Data Center and Storage Category for its CloudEngine12800 in 2013.

"Japan is on the forefront of IT development. Many of the most advanced IT products and solutions were first applied here," said Mr. Yan Lida, President of the Enterprise Business Group of Huawei. "I am pleased that Huawei has been presented with two Best of Show Awards and recognized for our products and solutions that are in line with the sophisticated practices and stringent quality standards of the Japanese IT market. We will continue to work closely with our partners to bring innovative ICT products and solutions to Japanese enterprises."

The award winning Huawei S12700 agile switch has been built on a fully programmable architecture that supports customized business requirements and quick deployment via software upgrades without the need to replace hardware. The S12700 agile switch addresses immediate challenges such as the convergence of fixed and wireless networks, implementing cloud computing and facilitating video transmission, and can also adapt to upcoming technologies and trends such as Software Defined Networks (SDN), big data and the Internet of things. Huawei's agile network solutions, which are designed with the S12700, helps enterprises transform their business operations and provide innovative service offerings at four times the speed. Since the launch of the agile switch in August 2013, the solution has been deployed in two hundred commercial enterprise networks around the world.

During the event, event participants also had the opportunity to experience Huawei's Oceanstor UDS massive data storage system. The solution has been developed based on distributed architecture and has independent computing and intelligent IP connectivity capabilities. It features SmartDisk hard drives, high-density storage nodes, and a peer-to-peer distributed storage engine. It is extremely energy-efficient and helps to build massive data storage solutions with high reliability, EB-class scalability and intelligent system recovery capability, which is critical for enterprises when they migrate ICT systems to the cloud and develop public cloud services with operators. Huawei's OceanStor UDS has been deployed by enterprises such as Vodafone, Telefonica, StarHub in Singapore, RCS-RDS in Romania, Phoenix TV, and across multiple industries.
