Kurz subsidiary PolyIC and the US manufacturer of touch controllers intensify their cooperation
The US technology company Cypress Semiconductor has included the Kurz subsidiary PolyIC in its so-called Design Partner Programme and will list the company on the Cypress website in future. The intensification of the cooperation, which has already lasted almost ten years, is based on PolyIC's proven competence in the technology fields of capacitive keys, touch screens, multi-touch sensors and curved surfaces.
The addition of PolyIC as a design partner of Cypress Semiconductor - which was acquired by Infineon in 2020 - is another milestone within the Kurz Group that clearly underlines the subsidiary's proven expertise. In the home appliances and consumer electronics sectors, numerous products with integrated PolyTC technology in combination with touch sensor controllers from Cypress are already in use. The two components are also already being successfully used together in the automotive sector. Further significant growth in the three divisions is one of the strategic goals of the cooperation partners.
In view of the numerous projects already implemented and in the planning stage, the step towards becoming a design partner is a particularly important one, explains PolyIC product manager Gerhard Scheuing: "This success will not only further strengthen our customers' confidence in our products. Companies that have not used any of our touchscreen solutions so far can also benefit from the intensified cooperation. We are looking forward to the future together with excitement."
With its inclusion in the partner programme, Cypress attests to the Kurz subsidiary's best "competence in handling Cypress products" and "special abilities" to offer customers innovative system solutions not only in sensor technology but also in electronics.
PolyIC and Cypress: sensor and processor come together
The specially developed and patented PolyTC sensors are manufactured in a roll-to-roll process. In this process, silver-based metal grid structures (metal mesh) are transferred to PET film and sealed with another PET protective film. Thanks to this layer structure, the PolyTC sensors are transparent, highly conductive, flexible and resistant. Connected to Cypress controllers, they are already used in washing machines, coffee machines and numerous other products.
