SunEdison And SunEdison Employees Win Three CanSIA Awards for Contributions to the Canadian Solar Industry

SunEdison, Inc. (NYSE: SUNE), the world's largest renewable energy development company, today announced that it has won three awards at the Game Changer Awards Gala, hosted by the Canadian Solar Industry Association (CanSIA). SunEdison won the Solar Developer award for being the leading developer in the Canadian market, SunEdison Director of Business Development Jonathan Frank won the Emerging Solar Leader award and SunEdison Vice President and Country Manager Michelle Chislett won the Solar Power Woman of Distinction Award. The award ceremony took place in Toronto, Canada on March 26, 2015.

"We are incredibly proud to be recognized for our contribution to the solar industry in Canada," said Ahmad Chatila, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunEdison. "I'm especially proud that two of our staff members, Michelle Chislett and Jonathan Frank, were recognized for their outstanding individual contributions to the solar industry. They truly are leaders in the industry."

Solar Power Woman of Distinction: Michelle Chislett

The Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) group presented the first ever Solar Power Woman of Distinction Award to Michelle Chislett for her extraordinary contributions to solar. Michelle has excelled in areas as diverse and as important as business development, volunteerism, policy and advocacy, technical R&D, project management and public adoption of RE technologies. Michelle's pioneering work has been instrumental in developing the FIT policy framework and large renewable procurement programs in Canada.

Michelle Chislett is past-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA), a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of Western Engineering (ACWE), a member of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Stakeholder Advisory Committee and in April 2012 was appointed as a member of Ontario's Clean Energy Task Force, an advisory council to the Minister of Energy and Minister of Economic Development and Innovation.

Emerging Solar Leader: Jonathan Frank

Jonathan Frank, Director of Business Development at SunEdison, was recognized as the Emerging Solar Leader for his work as National Board of Directors co-chair of the Emerging Leaders for Solar Energy (ELSE) group as well as his efforts to expand SunEdison's Canadian business. Jonathan was instrumental in driving the massive growth of ELSE's membership base, the expansion of the Solar Ambassadors program, the launch of a new mentorship program, and hosted numerous events to educate and involve students and young professionals with the aim of advancing Canada's solar industry. Jonathan is a Director of Business Development at SunEdison and is tireless in his advocacy for the industry and the benefits of solar energy.

Solar Developer: SunEdison

SunEdison has been a leading developer of solar energy projects in Canada since the inception of the Renewable Energy Standards Offer Program (RESOP) in Ontario. In 2014 the Canadian team interconnected 108 megawatts (MW) of solar projects, for a total of over 260 MW of operating solar projects in the province of Ontario. Another 56 MW are currently under construction. Notably, SunEdison was recently qualified by Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for the Large Renewable Procurement program and the Battery and Flywheel Storage Procurement program.
