DuPont Teijin Films (DTF) is celebrating the receipt of the Queen's Award for Enterprise, its third since 2003. The award granted DTF this year was in the innovation category for development of its Melinex® polyester films for solar photovoltaic modules.
The prestigious Queen's Awards for Enterprise are presented annually after a thorough and demanding selection process. The awards recognize the achievements of United Kingdom (UK) businesses in the categories of innovation, exports and sustainability.
Winning multiple awards within such a short period is a rare honor few have experienced.
"We are immensely proud to have received this award, which marks our business as one of the country's leading innovators and is testimony to the ability and dedication of the whole team at Wilton," said John Purdy, site manager of the DTF Global Technology Center at Wilton.
Commercial development for products also is undertaken at Wilton.
"Some of the world's major challenges include: energy, security and climate change, which are driving an array of distributed 'green' solutions," said Julian Mace, market manager for DuPont Photovoltaics. "DTF's new film products manufactured at our plant in Dumfries in South West Scotland provide long life and light weight electrical insulation for solar modules."
