15,621 visitors at Eurasia's leading energy event
ICCI: International Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference 2014 attracted 15,621 visitors during its 24–26 April run at the Istanbul Expo Centre, the most in its 20-year history. The event featured 350 exhibiting companies, roughly 45 percent of which came from outside of Turkey. Taner Yıldız, Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, opened the event on 24 April.
"The results of this year's International Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference reinforce Turkey's position as one of the world's most dynamic energy markets," said Wolfgang Pech, senior vice president at Deutsche Messe. "We had exhibitors from 18 countries, including such industry leaders as ABB, Alstom, Doosan, Enercon, Nordex, Senvion, Siemens, Suzlon, and Yingli Solar, plus country pavilions from Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Taiwan. Our main goal for 2015 will be to further increase international participation."
Süleyman Bulak, managing director of Sektörel Fuarcılık, added, "International Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference has contributed significantly to the development of Turkey's energy sector, both domestically and internationally. With programs like the Energy Oscar Awards, we are promoting Turkey's status in the global energy marketplace."
The ICCI exhibition program featured the following product categories: Auxiliary Systems for Power and Steam Generating Plants; Construction Services; Design, Consultancy and Financing; Energy Efficiency; Environmental Technologies; Logistics; Maintenance, Repair and Service in Power Plants; Power Conducting Systems; and Power and Steam Generation.
The conference featured more than 250 speakers and covered topics ranging from conventional and renewable energy; nuclear power; and power plant operation and maintenance to cogeneration and trigeneration systems; geopolitical balances; and policy, legislation and financing.
Dr. Fatih Birol, the chief economist at the International Energy Agency, noted that roles in the energy world are changing and said that the United States was going to be very popular – both in terms of energy and investments – due to the shale gas boom. Cüneyd Zapsu, president of the board of directors at Zapsu Consultancy, expressed his support for nuclear energy, adding that he could not imagine Turkey without nuclear energy and did not see another alternative.
The next ICCI: International Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference will run 7–9 May 2015 at the Istanbul Expo Center. The event is organized by Hannover Messe Sektörel Fuarcılık A.Ş., a joint venture between Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş. and Sektörel Fuarcılık A.Ş., in which Deutsche Messe AG holds a majority share.
