Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

The meaning behind the phrase "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle", at first glance, may be taken for granted. In actuality, it is more than just a clever catchphrase, but describes a process to achieve a successful Sustainability Program.

To start, look at materials that consistently go into the waste and evaluate if their use can be "Reduce(d)". For example, can a product be purchased in bulk to reduce the amount of packaging materials?

Next, Explore whether these waste materials can be "Reuse(d)" in some way. For example, can used coffee grounds be put in the garden as compost?

Finally, once all other viable options have been thoroughly analyzed, the left over waste is now a candidate to be "Recycle(d)".

If we "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" as the term suggests, we can lessen our impact on our environment which would be a just "Reward" for our efforts.
