Recently, LG Display has published its annual Sustainability Report, and its contents show how, while known to be a global leader in technology, the company has equally focused on conducting sustainable management practices.
Forward Thinking Green Management
While maintaining industry and technology leadership, LG Display possesses a strong foothold in terms of green and people management. With the purpose to improve risk management and reduce environmental impact, the company established Green, Environment, Safety, Health (GESH)—a management policy that integrates green practices with health and safety operation activities. LG Display's successful implementation of GESH management in all of its domestic and overseas workplaces has been recognized by international standards such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
GESH Management System
LG Display has been, in fact, very active in identifying and implementing measures against climate change. The company is also the first in the LCD industry to obtain business approval for a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This project is aimed mainly to reduce greenhouse gases emitted during LCD production.
With the same philosophy regarding the importance of eco-friendly and community-friendly measures, LG Display strives to positively impact its working environment. The company is also a recipient of the Presidential Award in recognition for its successful implementation of safety and health management system in Gumi plant. This award is a testament to LG Display's unfaltering commitment to provide the optimal environment for its employees.
Mutual Growth as a Sustainable Strategy
LG Display understands that, in its line of business, engaging in mutually beneficial business partnerships is a key to company's sustainable management. Going beyond customary industry practices, the company implements a mutually beneficial cooperation system with a separate unit set up solely to focus on supporting partners. While usually similar cooperation agreements are limited to financing, education or consulting only, LG Display rolls out a comprehensive task co-development and education program that focuses on nurturing seven skills aimed at shared growth and enhancement of fundamental competitiveness in the areas of production, quality, development, part infrastructure and finance.
Mutual Growth Promotion System
In 2012, the company expanded the program to promote cooperation at the pre-production development stage. Such approach is expected to optimize and foment technical development and competitiveness as well as grow partners as world-class suppliers. LG Display's initiatives have not gone unnoticed, taking the honor of being selected as 'Corporate Responsibility Management for Mutual Growth' company by Chosun News Press, the largest media conglomerate in Korea.
