Epson survey shows: three-quarters of respondents rate companies with sustainable environmental and social strategies much more positively
An Epson survey makes it clear that for both customers and employees, sustainability strongly influences the value of a brand (Bild: Thermal image of a laser printer [right] compared to an inkjet printer [left]).

In a Europe-wide survey conducted in summer 2020, Epson asked more than 4,000 people about their views and expectations on sustainable corporate behaviour and how this can lead to a faster recovery from the Covid pandemic. One striking result of the survey is that consumers' and employees' desire for environmentally friendly brand strategies has again increased significantly. It also became clear that the vast majority of respondents (75 percent) prefer sustainable companies both as customers and employees.
The report also reveals that around 71 percent of the employees surveyed consider their company's responsibility towards social and environmental issues to be important or very important. A further 78 percent believe that a sustainable strategy has a positive influence on brand perception and noticeably improves brand loyalty. Almost two thirds also believe that these issues will become even more important after Covid-19.
Jörn von Ahlen, Head of Marketing at Epson Deutschland GmbH, says: "Sustainable management and energy-saving technologies are part of Epson's DNA. As a company, we can already look back on decades of high commitment in the CSR segment. We already know from feedback from customers and trading partners that sensitivity to environmental and social issues has increased significantly in recent years. Today, it is no longer primarily public-sector clients or large companies that place particular emphasis on sustainability. Medium-sized companies in particular are increasingly recognising an opportunity to position themselves positively and extremely committed in the market. With its environmentally friendly, energy-saving IT solutions, Epson offers all these companies a silver bullet to reduce both power consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as to use modern, high-performance solutions for the new working world according to Covid-19.
Covid-19 has thereby accelerated many previously latent trends. One of them is the transition to more flexible working environments in companies of all sizes. The results of the Epson survey also show that how companies prepare for the return to normal operations will be critical to success.
