Climate protection initiative: Ricoh supports the "Business Ambition for 1.5 ° C" campaign

Ricoh has announced its support for the “Business Ambition for 1.5 ° C” campaign. The campaign is led by the United Nations Global Compact, the “We Mean Business” coalition [3], and the Science Based Targets (SBTi) [4] initiative, which aims to reduce the global temperature rise caused by global warming to less than 1.5 ° C compared to the pre-industrial level and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050. It appeals to companies to set goals for the reduction of greenhouse gases based on scientific findings. To date, around 300 executives from global companies have expressed their support for the campaign.

In March of this year, Ricoh updated its environmental targets in light of changing global trends in terms of global warming. The company revised its global target of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions from 30 to 63 percent by 2030, compared to 2015. This new target, approved by the SBTi, will help keep global warming 1.5 ° C above pre-industrial levels limit.
Climate change is one of the most pressing social problems in our society. Ricoh is committed to being carbon neutral by 2050 and will continue to work to achieve a zero carbon society through energy saving measures, the use of renewable energies and active participation in international initiatives.
