Fitt Launches New Social Fitness App To Drive Wearable Device Engagement

App addresses key challenges of wearables industry by providing habit forming challenges, social motivation and goal reinforcement

Fitt today announced it has launched the Fitt app, a fun, new way for people with wearable devices and fitness apps to create and compete in group challenges. Fitt instantly connects people to friends, whether they are using a Jawbone UP, Fitbit or activity tracker apps such as Moves. Paired with users' activity trackers, Fitt lets friends create and compete in challenges that keep both motivation and movement high. The company recently raised $300K in seed funding, led by Crosslink Capital and 500 Startups to further develop the platform's capabilities and expand compatibility with additional devices and apps.

"With obesity on the rise, there is an increasing need for an effective, easy and fun way for people to improve their health," said Carnet Williams, CEO and co-founder of Fitt. "Although there's been a rapid adoption of fitness wearables, without an engaging platform, many users stop using their devices. Our mission at Fitt is to build a platform that connects friends and keeps them moving, regardless of the device."

Not only does Fitt help weave together a fragmented fitness tracker industry, it's changing behaviors and users are seeing results. "Fitt keeps me engaged because challenges are always changing," says Vicky Barrett, a user who lost 10lbs and credits Fitt challenges for keeping her on track.

Fitt launched in Beta with 120 people and instantly experienced rapid organic growth as users created thousands of challenges and invited their friends to join. "The Fitt community has rapidly grown through user-generated challenges," says Williams. "We've empowered users to create and host challenges that bring together co-workers, families and even people around shared social causes."

The Fitt community is all about motivating each other, "I have become addicted to challenging my friends," says Mike Kepford another Fitt user. "I've made a life transformation and as a challenge host, I'm able to help motivate and encourage others to accomplish their own fitness goals."

"Fitness challenges incentivize people so they remain engaged with their devices," said Eric Chin, Partner at Crosslink Capital. "Run by a proven management team, Fitt has taken the approach to build a software platform that changes behavior and bridges the fragmented wearable device market. We look forward to working with Carnet and the team as they continue to scale."
