Moody's - Number of EMEA distressed companies will remain close to all time high in 2021

In 2021, distressed companies (rated B3 negative and lower) in Europe, Middle East and Africa will remain close to the all-time high of 130 in June 2020, as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to hamper their performance, according to Moody's latest B3N list. The B3N list is the number of non-financial corporate debt issuers rated B3 negative rating or lower.

November 2020: Business climate clouds over only slightly despite the partial lockdown; outlook for the coming months is not very confident

Despite the partial lockdown in November caused by the corona, the business climate in the German print and media industry cooled only relatively slightly. The business climate index calculated by the Bundesverband Druck und Medien (German Printing and Media Industries Federation) fell by a seasonally adjusted 2.0 per cent to 91.0 points compared with the previous month. As a result, the year-on-year decline was 9.3 per cent, albeit much less pronounced than during the lockdown in spring - in April the index fell by 18.3 per cent year on year.

The new World Robotics 2020 Industrial Robots report presented by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) shows a record of about 21,700 industrial robots operating in factories of the United Kingdom – an increase of 5%. Sales of new robots slow with 2,000 units shipped in 2019. This is 16% less compared to 2018.

EMEA Tablet Market Posts Strongest Performance Since 2013, Says IDC

The Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) tablet market grew by 23.8% YoY, reaching 11.9 million units in the second quarter of 2020, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). Tablets performed positively for the first time in six years in EMEA and posted the strongest growth since 2013, when the market had not yet reached maturity. The consumer segment was the main driver, with 27.1% YoY growth. This was triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and the sudden need to acquire devices for leisure and education purposes during lockdown.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, the overall tablet market in EMEA declined 8.7% YoY, reaching 12.9 million units, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). According to research by International Data Corporation (IDC), the Western European printer and multifunction (MFP) market decreased by 6.1% in unit terms in 1Q19 compared with the same period a year ago to give a market size of 4.13 million units. This meant the overall market declined year on year by 268K units, but price declines steadied and the value remained flat for revenues of $2.3 billion. This gives a 1H19 market size of 8.54 million units and a value of $4.6 billion.
