Kimoto introduces enhanced KimoRip

Kimoto, the Japanese manufacturer known for its inkjet CtP, inkjet films, low cost thermal ribbon CtP and many different types of consumables announces its new KimoRip.

KimoRip has been developed together with Lucid Dream Software and streamlines production significantly. The new KimoViewer enables job previews via a standard browser. The job preview option with the newest version of the KimoRip has been completely replaced with a new browser based viewer that is zoomable and shows plate positioning. The new viewer quickly processes ripped jobs into a browser friendly form and positions the job onto a virtual plate size based on the current page setup layout options. Plate margin clipping is applied in the same fashion as happens on output insuring that what is seen in the preview will exactly match the final plate. Any popular browser can used to view jobs, including mobile browsers. Zooming in and out is done either using the controls, mouse wheel, or "Pinch" functions in mobile browsers. Preview function can be configured to be managed by the rip where both plate preview and job data is removed when jobs are deleted, or it can be configured to store preview data in a user designated location – typically a web server folder for viewing over the internet.

"This feature enables our customers to easily access their data and review the files and in case of issues, correct them before output", says K. Kimoto, President and CEO of Kimoto Co., Ltd.

With KimoThin rendering of very fine characters, especially glyphs in Asian font sets, that often can result in overly "fat" strokes in a normal rip engine, is realised. The new KimoThin function performs a post process to the ripped job to reduce the thickness of these strokes. Using technology based on years of experience with trapping this feature is able to produce outstanding results when printed.

The new version has a major new release of the PS/PDF interpreter to handle all of the latest PDF features including improved PDF Transparency, ICC colors, better font handling and speed enhancements.

The KimoRip is updated to run on all current and recent versions of both Mac and Windows. It works on both 32 bit and 64 bit hardware. It is also designed to work in both Roman and Asian language modes including both Japanese and Chinese language versions. It has been updated to support printing from all popular DTP applications.

"We are constantly improving our offerings in order to offer printers the best and most sophisticated tools for their daily work", says Mr. Kimoto. "This also applies to our KimoRip having been updated by a talented team of developers with years of direct experience working with print technology. Working together with Lucid Dream Software has given our solution the edge. Combined with a well trained support team – you can rely on the KimoRip to exceed your needs!"
