Fast forward to new business
Halftone Die Makers, an Indian company now part of the Halftone Group, got started in 1999 as prepress service bureau. Today Halftone has three platesetters for producing plates for different printing processes, and the recent addition of a digital printing press has opened up a whole new range of business opportunities.
The company is also involved in making dies for the packaging industry. To efficiently cut the ejection rubber required in the process, Halftone purchased a Zünd S3 M-800 in early 2015.
Reducing production time by more than 70%
During their equipment evaluation, Halftone focused primarily on the productivity and the modularity of the Zünd cutter. Murali Nandyala explains: „We looked at solutions from other cutter manufacturers as well. What excited us the most and ended up being the deciding factor, was the exceptional productivity of the Zünd cutter.“ In the short time since the installation of their cutting system, Halftone has already been able to dramatically reduce delivery times. The productivity of the S3 M-800 has led to significant decreases in production time, which was another goal Halftone had been looking to achieve: „With the new high-performance cutter, we are able to reduce the production time per order by more than 70%, which has a very positive effect on our bottom line.“ Besides the immediate increase in profitability, another decisive advantage of the S3 M-800 lies in its versatility and range of applications.
Versatile and modular
The modular design of the Zünd cutter, along with the wide range of available high-performance tooling and state-of-the-art material handling options, make the system highly adaptable to specific production requirements. In the meantime, Halftone has already begun using the S3 M-800 for vinyl cutting, making use of the acrylic table plate designed specifically for kisscutting. In a next phase, the company is planning to add a router module for creating Pertinax creasing counters.
