Koehler Paper introduces "Koehler NexPure OGR", a further packaging paper in the fast food market

Packaging solution for French fries, sandwiches or wraps
Innovative paper with barrier function and low grammage
Portfolio addition as part of the Koehler Paper "Seal & Wrap" campaign

Koehler Paper, part of the Koehler Group, is adding another product to its portfolio of flexible packaging papers for use in quick service catering. Consumers' desire for sustainable products and packaging has long since found its way into the fast-food sector, which is why the system catering industry is also increasingly looking for solutions for this. In October, Koehler launched Koehler NexPure Wrap®, a paper for packaging hamburgers with an extremely low grammage in the fast-food market. With Koehler NexPure® OGR, the company is now launching an oil- and grease-resistant, sustainable paper that is used, for example, in the packaging of French fries, sandwiches, wraps or burritos.
Koehler NexPure® OGR eliminates the need for products containing fluorochemicals
With its latest development - Koehler NexPure® OGR - Koehler Paper, as one of the leading suppliers of papers with disruptive barrier functions for packaging solutions, is now adding another sustainable solution to its portfolio for the fast food market. The product does not require the use of fluorochemicals and is therefore a sustainable, environmentally friendly alternative to the packaging papers previously used in the fast food sector. The new paper for packaging French fries, for example, is produced with a basis weight of 38 g and relies on natural raw materials for the barrier function.
Christoph Wachter, Division Manager of Flexible Packaging Papers at Koehler Paper, says: "With this new development, we have a sustainable fast-food packaging that does completely without a fluorochemical coating and offers the same functionality. The complete recyclability of the paper is thus ensured." The fibre material used in the product is exclusively pulp from certified sustainable forestry and controlled sources. "In addition, we achieve a high degree of whiteness and very good printability with a unique arrangement of the paper fibres," Wachter continues.
Innovative barrier function ensures high greaseproofness
Koehler Paper has already invested 300 million euros in 2019 with production line 8 in the flexible packaging paper business. Since then, flexible packaging papers with barrier coatings with different functionalities have been produced on the largest MG paper machine in the world. These are in particular barriers for aroma, fat, mineral oil or even oxygen. The papers from Koehler offer what is important for packaging: protection of the contents, protection of the environment and excellent processing properties.
With the new paper Koehler NexPure® OGR, Koehler achieves a high grease tightness of KIT Level 7. The paper is being launched immediately in the worldwide markets and can be requested for sampling.
