Internationalization: Postcard app Postando expands into France and the USA

Postando brings the easy sending of individual postcards and greeting cards via smartphone to other countries: Only four years after its foundation, the successful German start-up is expanding to France and the USA.

"The French and US markets offer a significant potential of new users for Postando," says Dennis Goetjes, co-founder of the innovative postcard app. "We also see the current corona crisis as an opportunity to establish our company even more strongly in the postcard market. People are longing for their loved ones and can give them a little pleasure with a postcard in these times. In addition, under normal circumstances, the most travel-intensive months of the year begin in June, both in the USA and in France. With every further easing of the current exceptional situation, we will be able to tap the corresponding potential.
Postcards are popular in the new markets
In the USA and France, postcards meet an enormous demand: 600 million postcards were sent via the US Postal Service alone last year. Whether it's Christmas, Thanksgiving or birthdays, Americans send greeting cards for all sorts of occasions. By printing the postcards in the USA, Postando avoids long shipping routes from vacation regions such as Mexico or Latin America. Postcards are also very popular in France. Up to 300 million greeting cards are sent out annually for various occasions and anniversaries.
Goals and future visions
For market entry, the marketing activities already successful in Germany will be transferred to the new countries in order to gain a foothold quickly and achieve initial volumes and sales. The aim of the expansion into these new markets is to transport the success story of the young company in Germany to other countries and establish the retail business here. This will also allow the introduction of the B2B segment in these countries to be prepared in the short to medium term, for which Postando offers business customers efficient and fast solutions for postcard marketing and CRM measures with its B2B portal.
