High Resolution Innovations on Display at Sharp's CES Booth Include 8K Glasses-Free 3D, AQUOS Quattron+ (Q+), AQUOS 4K Ultra HD, 8K and IGZO

Sharp comes to the 2014 International CES with a range of pixel-packed display technologies that allow consumers to experience every detail with captivating clarity. For the first time in the United States, Sharp is showcasing an 85" screen size 8K glasses-free 3D TV, in partnership with Phillips and Dolby. With this new technology, consumers are able to enjoy the most realistic, immersive 3D images ever displayed without glasses.

Sharp continues to lead the large-screen LED TV industry it pioneered with four new series of AQUOS large screen LED Smart TVs, including the highest resolution Full HD TV available, the AQUOS Quattron+ (Q+). Q+ TVs combine Quattron™ and Revelation™ technologies, to create a higher resolution image with more detail, depth, and color than any other Full HD TV available today. Sharp is also introducing a new SmartCentral™ smart TV platform that integrates your cable and satellite TV guide with streaming services to enable a centralized search experience for faster, easier viewing decisions. It also provides personalized recommendations, ready access to viewer ratings, and smartphone and tablet connectivity for full remote control, media file sharing, and second screen applications.

New Sharp products and technologies to be showcased at CES include:

AQUOS Quattron+ (Q+) and the 2014 AQUOS Large Screen Line-up

The comprehensive 2014 AQUOS large screen line-up features four new series of AQUOS LED Smart TVs 60" (diagonal) and larger with cutting-edge picture technology, including the new AQUOS Quattron+ (Q+) televisions, the highest resolution Full HD TV available. Q+ TVs have built-in upscaling, so everything you watch is sharper and more vivid. They are also future-ready -- they are the only Full HD TVs that can play 4K content, delivering a near UHD experience. Q+ TVs will be available in 60" class, 70" class and 80" class screen sizes.

Sharp will also be debuting a new SmartCentral™ smart TV platform. SmartCentral includes the most popular apps and lets viewers search once and discover more, all from a single remote. Access your cable, satellite, and streaming services through the SmartCentral interactive guide and search across them all by title, genre, time and popularity.

With the free SmartCentral mobile app viewers can connect smartphones and tablets to Sharp TVs to search and discover and share videos, pictures and music stored on your smart device.

In addition to Q+ series of Sharp is rolling out a complete line of AQUOS large screen LED Smart TVs perfect for virtually every need and budget. The flagship Sharp AQUOS 4K Ultra HD TV will be offered in an updated 70" class and a new 60" class in 2014. The Sharp AQUOS Quattron (Q) series, which offers 33 percent more subpixels than a standard HD with the unique addition of a yellow subpixel, will be offered in both 60" and 70" class screen sizes. The Sharp AQUOS HD series, which offers a breathtaking 1080p HD display, will be offered in 60" class, 70"class, 80" class and 90" class. In 2014 Sharp will also expand their small and mid-size offerings with 32" class, 39" class and 48" class products.

8K Glasses-Free 3D

Take a look at the future with Sharp's 85" screen size 8K glasses-free 3D display. Created with Phillips and Dolby, the ultra high resolution glasses-free 3D experience allows customers to experience a lifelike 3D picture without glasses. By displaying content with 16 times the resolution of today's HDTVs the Sharp 8K glasses-free 3D provides a truly unique viewing experience.

8K

4K today, 8K tomorrow. Sharp is showing a glimpse of the high definition future with a demonstration of 8K resolution on an 85" (diagonal) screen size class TV. Sharp was the first brand to showcase this groundbreaking technology at CES 2012. 8K is an astounding 7680 x 4320 resolution, the equivalent of 16 times the pixel resolution of HDTV and presents an unprecedented level of incredibly detailed, high-quality images.

IGZO

IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) is an advanced semiconductor technology that Sharp is the first to mass produce. Its advantages are super high resolution and clarity, ultra low power consumption and high performance touch response. Since showcasing the amazing possibilities of IGZO at CES 2013, IGZO has seen significant adoption in tablet and mobile products currently on sale, along with multiple notebook computers currently shipping worldwide from multiple manufacturers. Sharp products incorporating IGZO technology, including smartphones, tablet devices, notebook PCs, and LCDs. A next-generation Micro Electro Mechanical System, or MEMS, display will also be demonstrated as an example of a promising application of IGZO technology.

Next Generation Displays

At CES 2014 Sharp will be showcasing a series of next generation displays. These future applications of cutting-edge display technology include a mirror to show high resolution images along with a series of IGZO-inspired 46" (diagonal) edgeless screen displays.

Sharp WiSA-compliant Universal Player

Sharp Electronics is unveiling the Sharp Universal Player and Wireless Bridge, the industry's first WiSA (Wireless Speaker Audio)-compliant Universal Player system. The Sharp Universal Player (SD-WH1000U) is the first component to transmit uncompressed sound at 24-bit/96kHz and video at Full HD (1080p) — wirelessly. The Sharp Universal Player has already been named a 2014 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in the High Performance Home Audio category.

2014 Sharp Audio Line-up

Sharp will be introducing an entirely new audio line-up for 2014, delivering epic sound and emphasizing Bluetooth and NFC connectivity that can be seamlessly integrated for the ultimate home entertainment experience. The 2014 audio line-up includes five Bluetooth-equipped products: a wireless Bluetooth speaker system, two Bluetooth sound bars, a Bluetooth-equipped microsystem and a Bluetooth-equipped executive component system. Sharp also unveiled three products that allow for easy pairing with NFC technology. The impressive wireless audio products include the GX-BT7, a wireless Bluetooth speaker system; the HT-SB602, an NFC-equipped Bluetooth sound bar; the DK-KP85P, a Bluetooth-equipped microsystem with top mounted Lightning dock, playback via USB input, CD drive, audio input, and AM/FM tuner; and the XL-HF202P, a Bluetooth-equipped executive component system.
