PRINTING OLED ON TEXTILE

Encapsulation and packaging techniques, flexible substrates and conductivity integration

With two weeks left to the Masterclass of the POLEOT project the registrations include representatives of VTT (Finland), Adphos (Germany), BASF (Switzerland), Designtex (USA), Institut Français de la Mode and many other international researchers and industry experts. They will join presentations that cover subjects ranging from printing smart designs of electroluminescent devices, printing and coating with carbon nanotubes, plasmatechnological barrier layers for packaging and encapsulation to OLEDs as the future of ambient lighting. The exclusive event takes place on 23rd June 2015 in Düsseldorf and limited places are still available.

Electroluminescent and organic light-emitting diodes are efficient, lightweight and environment-friendly light sources that give rise to a new generation of textiles. Luminescent inks are already employed by innovative screen and digital inkjet processes.

POLEOT (Printing Of Light Emitting devices On Textile) aims at developing luminescence technology for a wide range of new textile applications and it is supported by Cornet programme, German Allianz Industrie Forschung and Flemish Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology. The masterclass will feature following presentations from project partners:

"Technical and smart textiles: towards new horizons"
(V. Mecnika, ITA – University of Aachen)

"Printing and coating with carbon nanotubes: integrating electrical conductivity into textiles"
(Dr. F. Govaert, Centexbel)

"Printing smart designs of electroluminescent devices with enhanced textile properties"
(Prof. dr. ir. W. Deferme, UHasselt/IMEC)

"Plasmatechnological barrier layers for packaging and encapsulation"
(Dr. ing. A. Schulz, University of Stuttgart)

"OLEDs: the future of ambient lighting; from glass towards flexible substrates"
(Ing. I. Verboven, UHasselt)

"Printing of Light Emitting Devices on Textile: the road from lab to fab"
(Prof. dr. M. van Parys, University College Ghent)

POLEOT technology finds its application in various areas, including high-visibility products for safety clothing or signalisation, as well as lamp shades and light-emitting wallpapers. Application examples and prototypes will all be showcased during the Masterclass held on 23rd June 2015 in Radisson Blu Hotel in Düsseldorf, between 10:00 and 18:00.
