SPRINTIS provides working conditions similar to those in Silicon Valley at its headquarters in Würzburg. With the completion of the visionary Business & Beach Campus the online mail order company has created an architecturally interesting combination of ultramodern office and business premises, unique in Germany, combined with cool leisure and sports facilities. The realisation of this ambitious building project took three years from planning to completion.
"After completion of the construction and realisation phase, we are proud of the result. Here at the Würzburg site we have created a combination of a functional workplace with a feel-good atmosphere with the Business & Beach Campus," says Christian Schenk, managing director of SPRINTIS Schenk GmbH & Co. KG. "Following completion, we now have sufficient office and commercial space to ensure that we are well positioned to realise our expansion plans in the medium and long term.
A new four-storey office building with state-of-the-art office and business premises, a new warehouse equipped with state-of-the-art logistics facilities, a multifunctional meeting room and attractive outdoor facilities have been built on the existing company premises at the online wholesaler's headquarters. The complete building project was implemented with local companies and partners on site.
Unusual, if not unique, is the design of the outdoor area: futuristic-looking wooden island platforms connected by footbridges seem to float above the parking deck. The facility is not only visually special, but the possible uses are also varied and innovative. There is a marketplace designed as a rest area and chill-out area, a public free-standing meeting room and a sports court with a beach volleyball court, basketball baskets and football goals. Schenk explains the unusual concept as follows: "Our products are not particularly sexy now, so we have to offer other incentives in order to become more attractive for skilled workers". "In addition," he continues, "a pure parking deck is not really visually appealing, so we wanted to create an attractive highlight on our company premises. It is fun to look out of the office at a beach volleyball field". The sports court is used regularly. Three to four times a week, colleagues, employees and tenants of the Business & Beach Campus meet to hit or kick a few balls together after work - great for the working atmosphere, collegial cohesion and health.
The building project was implemented according to the latest energy standards. The public conference room, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offers perfect conference conditions. In the logistics sector the mail order company has doubled its storage capacity at its Würzburg facility by installing a modern mobile racking system and building a third warehouse.
These measures have enabled the agile specialist retailer to adapt the spatial conditions to its corporate strategy. SPRINTIS focuses on expansion and internationalisation. Following the successful online launch of its French shop in May 2020 the specialist retailer will soon offer its products in a shop specifically for the Spanish-speaking market. Expansion into other countries to open up new markets is in the pipeline.
