3Diligent has announced that www.3Diligent.com is now out of beta and available to the public, providing a new, "double blind" marketplace for the production of 3D printed, CNC machined, or molded and cast custom parts.
According to its website, 3Diligent is a Conduit for Professional and Production Grade Rapid Manufacturing. On the platform, customers can submit Requests for Quote (RFQs) to receive bids from vendors with industrial-grade rapid manufacturing machinery. Customers can then message with vendors, transact on the most compelling offer, and track the order through to delivery.
Real-time competition and production lifecycle transparency are great benefits of the service. However, 3Diligent's biggest innovation is the introduction of Double Blind Bidding.
"When we were developing 3Diligent, we wanted to make sure our business model was a win-win for both customers and vendors. Introducing Double Blind Bidding was the key to making that happen," said Cullen Hilkene, CEO of 3Diligent.
On 3Diligent.com, when customers receive bids on a submitted RFQ, they are provided all the information they need to make an informed purchase decision: the vendor's certifications, past ratings and reviews, and the details of their bid. Vendors are provided the customer's zip code so they can offer an "all-in" bid inclusive of shipping costs and sales taxes. But neither is provided the other's name until a deal is agreed upon.
"Veiling identities until a deal is done opens the door to huge benefits for customers and vendors. Vendors can bid aggressively on jobs without concern that their pricing power in the broader market will be impacted. Hilkene is quick to note that the site is not one for cut-rate services.
