MecklerMedia's Inside 3D Printing Conference Confirms More Than 40 Sponsors and Exhibitors in Santa Clara on October 21-23, 2014

MecklerMedia (OTCQX: MECK) and 3D Printing Industry announced that more than 40 sponsors and exhibitors will be participating at the Inside 3D Printing Conference and Expo taking place in Santa Clara on October 21-23, 2014.

Dubai: 3D printed parts on-demand shipped to your doorstep

The Paradigm 3D direct digital factory is centrally located in Dubai, UAE, to serve the needs of the Middle East for fast 3D printed parts.
Paradigm 3D is the First Digital Factory of the Future in the Middle East dedicated to supplying 3D printing services for low-volume and customized production. The company is at the forefront of the paradigm shift in manufacturing away from the traditional mass production line factory to the latest 'on the fly manufacturing' to create innovative local goods in the digital age.

Paradigm 3D's First 3D Printing Factory in the Middle East is set to boost local manufacturing of innovative products.

Screen shot 2014-10-06 at 06.24.47It's no secret that the key problem facing industrial companies and new start–ups with an innovative idea is how to bring that idea to life without spending extraordinary amounts in the prototyping phase or the proof of concept phase, which doesn't begin to reward the creator or entrepreneur with any revenue. 3D Printing (or Additive Manufacturing) technologies have been assisting companies to minimize costs of prototyping their ideas for nearly a decade now, but the cost of bringing a system in-house with trained operators can still be prohibitive to some, leaving great ideas on the shelf simply because they fail at this development stage.

Fonon unveils 3D additive manufacturing

"3D Additive Manufacturing is the creation or fabrication of almost any part, component or product mold that a business or manufacturer could require, all products are printed (sintered) onsite negating the need to have to obtain a third party to forge your component. The limits are now limitless...Costing for Fabrication drastically reduced. "

How to 3D print a Sun

Internal Confinement Fusion by Laser Stimulated Emission.

My proposed solution involves using focused laser light in programmable configurations to either produce electrostatic fields or induce currents in the ionized gas causing fusion to occur. The goal in mind is to create a self sustained plasma body, which would produce its own jet stream of ions due to its own instabilities, and to harness the ion energy from the jet for direct energy conversion.

Continuous Deposition Arc Foaming

Continuous Deposition Arc Foaming is a Geomimetic 3D Printing process that allows for large-scale production of stochastic foams of a variety of materials including glass, metal, cermet, and fullerenes. Proof-of-Concept has been achieved by nature with fulgurite. Prior art such as Contour Crafting and laser sintering have provided the conceptual and technological foundation for my technology.

Self-Replicating Robot Factory

A Solar Powered Self Replicating Robot Factory is comprised of:

  • A set of networked computer systems,
  • A 3D Rapid Prototyping Parts Printer;
  • Several Refillable ReservoirArrays of Composite Epoxy Resin Fluids and Chemicals;
  • A Part Finishing Robot;
  • Part Transport Robots;
  • An Automated Part Storage and Retrieval Robotic System;
  • An Assembly Robot;
  • Rechargeable Batteries;
  • and Solar Photovoltaic Panel Arrays Power Source System.

Freeform Additive Construction System (FACS)

Using the highly articulated All-Terrain Hex-Limbed Extra-Terrestrial Explorer (ATHLETE) robotic mobility system as a precision positioning tool, a variety of print head technologies can be used to 3D print large-scale in-situ structures on Earth and other planetary surfaces such as the moon or Mars. In effect, in the same way CAD models can be printed in a 3D printer, large-scale structures such as walls, vaults, domes, berms, paving, trench walls, and other in-situ derived elements can be FAXed to the planetary surface and built in advance of the arrival of crews, supplementing equipment and materials brought from prepared sources.

Design of an Ultra-Compact and Mobile Test Device for Tensile Testing of Additive Manufactured Plastic Parts under Varying Climatic Conditions

The aim of this thesis was to develop a test setup that determines tensile strength of additive manufactured plastic parts under varying climatic conditions. The test setup had to be integrated into a climate chamber with limited dimensions. The shape of the samples was defined by ISO 527-2 and ISO 3167. By dividing the development process into the four phases planning, conception, design and work out, the design method followed the specifications of VDI 2221.

3D printer for making cylindrical metal parts

This design is to use a standard powder feeder that is available from sources such as Praxair or Thermach. It uses a pulsed laser to melt powder and feedback to determine the state of the melt puddle. The feedback is from an optical pyrometer that has a mechanical shutter to protect it from the laser, as the laser and pyrometer can't be used at the same time.
