Pantone brings together Ultimate Gray and Illuminating for a union of strength and hope
The announcement we’ve been waiting for from Pantone is finally here, and this year the Color of the Year is a combination of two. Introducing Ultimate Gray and Illuminating – Pantone have married together these two strong colours as a message of enduring strength and hopefulness to take us into 2021.
These two independent colours have been combined to show how different elements come together to support one another. Ultimate Gray, a solid and dependable shade is paired with the warming and optimistic Illuminating yellow to create a feeling of happiness supported by fortitude.
Resembling the light at the end of the tunnel, this strong combination of colours is a sign of things to look forward to in 2021. This isn’t the first year Pantone have selected two different colours for their Color of the Year (with the combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity back in 2016). However, the choice of two colours coming together feels more apt than ever before, as Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Color Institution puts it, “We all realise we cannot do this alone.”
How the Color of the Year is Used
