3M today releases its 2014 Sustainability Report, highlighting its new Sustainability Center of Excellence, results of a global stakeholder survey and case studies on its sustainability-focused products.
The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation and its founder, His Royal Highness Prince Khaled bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia, have been awarded a Peter Benchley award for Excellence in Ocean Exploration. The award recognizes their work exploring and creating first-ever detailed maps of some of the world's most remote coral reef systems.
The Peter Benchley Awards are billed as the worlds' preeminent ocean conservation awards and other winners this year are EU commissioner Maria Damanaki, The Honorable Leon Panetta, Gabriela Cowperthwaite, Casey Sokolovic, Captain Charles Moore, and Dr. Steve Gaines. The award ceremony is being held at the California Academy of Science in San Francisco.

Award acknowledges the importance of investment in emerging clean technologies
ABB, the leading power and automation group, announced today its electrical vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure business was named by Cleantech Group (CTG), developer of the i3 market intelligence platform, as one of CTG's five picks as a European Cleantech Company of the Decade.
ABB is delivering a new distributed control system for the desalination plant at the Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) smelter complex in Dubai. The solution is one of several that ABB has recently provided for this vast power, water and production complex, widely considered the industrial flagship of Dubai.
DUBAL operates one of the largest single-site aluminum production complexes in the world. Built on a 480 hectare site, the state-of-the-art smelter complex comprises 1,573 reduction cells arranged in seven potlines, a 2,350 megawatt power plant, a desalination plant that produces 113.5 million liters of distilled and potable water a day, and various other facilities including a carbon plant, casting houses and port. The smelter produces more than one million tons of molten aluminum a year.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, better known as LEED, was formed in 2000 and has become a cornerstone in building standards and environmental concerns. Actually, LEED has grown from a small group of concerned developer/contractors, consisting of about six volunteers, who wanted to add quality to their work, save energy and better their communities.

15,621 visitors at Eurasia's leading energy event
ICCI: International Energy and Environment Exhibition and Conference 2014 attracted 15,621 visitors during its 24–26 April run at the Istanbul Expo Centre, the most in its 20-year history. The event featured 350 exhibiting companies, roughly 45 percent of which came from outside of Turkey. Taner Yıldız, Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, opened the event on 24 April.
