arvato publishes fifth environmental report

What do the E-Plus Group's climate-neutral logistics center and the Trucker League have in common? The answer is simple: Both are making a contribution to climate protection; both are green business models developed by arvato; and both are included in the new environmental report recently published by arvato AG. For the fifth time now, the international group of service providers is presenting a global balance sheet outlining its environmental impacts and initiatives.

The environmental balance sheet once again follows the guidelines and standards set by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The newly released environmental report also provides information on various sustainable business approaches and employee initiatives within this global network of companies.

"The personal commitment exhibited by many of our employees is enabling us to operate more sustainably as a company. They also develop green business models that combine ecology with economy and that help our customers to reduce their own environmental impacts along the value chain," explains Sonja Groß, head of arvato's environmental campaign.

The new environmental report gives readers insight into the economic efficiency and environmental sustainability of the new climate-neutral logistics solution developed for the E-Plus Group. The E-Plus Group wants to be operating climate neutrally by the year 2020. With highly efficient logistics services, arvato is helping the mobile network operator to reach this ambitious goal and to quickly respond to changes in the market with first-rate service.

The Trucker League is a special initiative promoting fuel-efficient driving practices. This innovative incentive model devised by arvato Systems is motivating truck drivers and company car users to drive more energy efficiently rather than stepping on the gas. Not only does this approach help trucking companies and suppliers to reduce costs and lower their carbon emissions; it is also designed with an element of fun.

Another example from the environmental report: A combined heat and power unit at the company's main headquarters in Gütersloh is saving 500 tons of carbon emissions per year – roughly corresponding to the combined emissions of 200 cars with a yearly kilometer reading of 20,000 km each.

The arvato environmental report is available in both print and digital format in the languages German, English, French and Spanish. The content of the report is also available on arvato's social media platforms.
