Innovative universal solution for 3D printing: Additively manufactured components seal, impregnate and finish in a gas- and watertight manner

DIAMANT Polymer GmbH develops innovative sealants for additive manufacturing. With the low-viscosity polymer systems, the material properties of 3D printed objects can be efficiently optimized. A common challenge is the watertightness of printed prototypes, spare parts, etc., which can be efficiently guaranteed with a universal solution from DIAMANT. dichtol AM Hydro makes additively manufactured components and workpieces gas- and watertight in a single step, while also protecting them from environmental influences.

dichtol AM Hydro is known for its ability to effectively seal microporosities in 3D printed objects, making them gas- and watertight. The user-friendly, solvent-free high-performance polymer can be used to quickly and reliably infiltrate, seal, impregnate and finish additively manufactured objects of all kinds. dichtol adapts flexibly to the application conditions of additive manufacturing and reliably seals pores up to 0.2 mm in diameter.

Suitable for common printing processes and materials used in additive manufacturing

The ready-to-use high-performance polymer dichtol AM Hydro is suitable for all common printing processes. In particular for use in filament printing and powder-based manufacturing processes. Filament 3D printing is a widely used technology for the additive manufacturing of solid and partially hollow components. Powder-based manufacturing processes allow the production of high-resolution and precise 3D objects with low porosity and high surface quality.

dichtol AM Hydro can be used on additively manufactured components made of common printing materials - in particular PLA, ASA, ABS and polyamide.

Pore-deep infiltration of 3D printed objects with rapid curing

In contrast to conventional sealants in 3D printing, which often only protect the surface of additively manufactured components, dichtol AM Hydro penetrates even the finest pores of the treated objects and physically hardens there in just a few hours. One hour must be calculated per millimeter of wall thickness.

The sealer is dry on the surface after around 60 minutes so that the components can be moved again quickly. Components can be moved again quickly. The solvent-free high-performance polymer anchors itself in the treated component and seals it reliably even at changing temperatures. In this way, the treated surface is sealed and impregnated in depth in just one work step.

Flexible application for components of different sizes and properties

Dipping is particularly suitable for sealing small and complex components evenly gas- and liquid-tight. Brushing on dichtol AM Hydro is recommended for components that are not to be sealed at all points. Spraying is the ideal method for additively manufactured objects with large surfaces. Areas that are difficult to access, drill holes or fine channels can be protected and sealed by injection.

A clean surface ensures optimum adhesion and prevents the formation of bubbles or irregularities that could impair watertightness. dichtol AM Hydro is colorless after curing and protects the treated component permanently. The sealed pores also mean that dirt can no longer accumulate on the impregnated, additively manufactured objects. The treatment with the ready-to-use polymer system also gives colored 3D printed components a remarkable brilliance.
The advantages of dichtol AM Hydro at a glance:
