Xeikon reaffirms its commitment to the technology and launches its new campaign outlining benefits including higher productivity and print quality on a broad range of media resulting in new exciting applications at Hunkeler Innovationdays. By Sabine Slaughter
The company showcases high quality large format coffee table book cover and dust jacket production with the Xeikon CX500 five colours roll-to-roll configuration.
The Xeikon CX500 helps printing operations around the globe address key market trends in the printing industry. Offset quality books covers and dust jackets for JIT book production is one of the many challenges this platform can handle, but it’s a particularly interesting one. “Running full speed high coverage image content on thick standard stock while keeping maximum resolution is an interesting value proposition”, says Dimitri Van Gaever, Market Segment Manager at Xeikon. “But basically, in any application segment where consistent high print quality is critical, there is high demand for reliable and affordable production platforms, and that’s where our dry toner technology comes in.”
“We are excited to show how dry toner complements inkjet solutions in the production environment of a broad array of high quality, high value and high coverage applications,” Van Gaever continues. He adds: “We are already seeing this approach works well for our customers and HID is the perfect show to further demonstrate the possibilities.”
Ready for Industry 4.0
Introduced in 2017, the design and proven technology of Xeikon enables it to perfectly respond to a wide range of sectors including graphic arts. The press is based on a new generation dry toner platform that is ready for Industry 4.0. It features a unique web width up to 520 millimeters and full rotary 30 meters per minute speed at maximum resolution in a 5-color setup.
Thanks to continued research and development along several key axes such as toner, fuser and imaging assembly, as well as substrate conditioning, the Xeikon CX500 delivers an unbeatable quality vs productivity ratio. It runs Xeikon’s Cheetah technology, designed specifically to cope with higher speeds and ensuring a reliable and proven printing quality with 1200 dpi 4bps and proprietary screening libraries. Its new operator interface features both interactivity and connectivity, and is complemented by the Xeikon X-800 digital front-end, which is unmatched in enabling consistent print quality in combination with industry-leading productivity.
Power of Dry Toner campaign
“Our Power of Dry Toner campaign combines all facets of our operation to reinforce the positioning of our dry toner technology,” states Dimitri Van Gaever, Market Segment Manager at Xeikon. “Our customers are looking for high quality solutions that are very productive on all types and weights of stocks. We also see them increasing volumes, and inkjet isn’t able to produce these applications at the required quality levels.”
Xeikon is working on new toner, fusing, conditioning assembly and image quality technology developments. They deliver greater productivity, even higher quality and a wider application range on Xeikon’s duplex dry toner platforms for graphic arts and commercial print.
Van Gaever continues: “We are excited to share details of these with HID2019 visitors and how, together, they ensure a compelling total cost of ownership.”
“It is the technology of choice for a set of high-value, highly profitable applications where Xeikon technology excels and this helps ‘mid-range’ customers to become or remain successful,” expands Van Gaever. “It is also a clear alternative for high risk investments that force companies into a relentless race to find ever increasing volumes and produce these at breakneck speeds, driving down prices and margins of ‘more of the same’ commoditized print products.”
