USA TODAY Named Mobile Publisher of the Year by Mobile Marketer

USA TODAY wins mobile website of the year honors as well

USA TODAY, a multi-platform news and information company, has been named Mobile Publisher of the Year by Mobile Marketer. USA TODAY was cited for its ongoing investment in the digital and mobile space, as well as a rounded content and media strategy. The Mobile Marketer Awards are awarded each year for outstanding work that moved the mobile needle for brands and marketers.

In the award announcement, Mobile Marketer noted that USA TODAY took their digital strategy a step further than most by taking its readers into consideration, while also giving its advertisers more options. In 2012, USA TODAY reimagined its entire mobile and tablet product portfolio and its website as part of a relaunch of all its products. Changes included an increased use of visual story-telling that has dramatically increased mobile and tablet video consumption, day-parting of the display, increased color, photos and info-graphics, as well as deeper coverage and increased original reporting.

Mobile Marketer also remarked that the company took its first steps towards building a universal Android app that includes a layout aimed at bolstering readership and increasing engagement. The application features an easy to read layout with up-to-the second headlines and more visuals.

USA TODAY also took top honors in the Mobile Website of the Year category, being cited for taking the user experience into consideration and offering readers a seamless experience with photos, videos and editorial content efficiently.
