TM Robotics and Evershed help Ricoh automate its manufacturing process
In an industrial context, the word automation is often, inaccurately, used to mean only industrial robotics. In fact, it refers to everything from inverter driven conveyor systems to advanced manufacturing software. Here, in its truest sense, it means controlling a process automatically; without human intervention. It’s little wonder then that Ricoh, one of the world’s leaders in office automation solutions, applies that ethos holistically across its business. One example of this is its investment in industrial robotics at its manufacturing arm, Ricoh UK Products Ltd in Telford, which has improved profitability and increased efficiency.

In the coming years, the Swiss technology group Bühler AG will be renewing the core systems of its corporate management and migrating its existing R/3 applications to the latest SAP technology SAP S/4HANA. "We are deliberately investing in an anticyclical manner during the pandemic to keep us fit for the future," said Stefan Scheiber, CEO of Bühler, in a virtual meeting held in mid-November with Christian Klein, CEO of SAP. The drastically simplified data architecture and the inherent intelligence of SAP S/4HANA promises a new level of efficiency and transparency in the use of the systems. "As a company, we want to significantly improve our processes worldwide and thus increase the performance of our company," says Scheiber.

DEVONtechnologies updates its documentation and information manager DEVONthink to version 3.6. The update brings compatibility for macOS Big Sur, with both cosmetic and technological improvements. Besides, it focuses on links between documents with an extended Links Inspector and new databases properties. Other changes include better in-document search as well as enhancements to Markdown support, scripting, and the workflow in general.

On 12 and 13 November, #DOC20, the Digital Office Conference 2020 of Bitkom, the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media, will take place. Canon will be there with a presentation by Victoria van den Berg and Patrick Bischoff, which will focus on digitisation processes and document workflows as well as digital cloud archiving solutions for companies of all sizes. According to Bitkom, every third company still needs support in the digitalisation of its office processes.

Servparc 2021 takes place from 30.06. - 01.07. and for the first time enables experts with the "Call4Content" to proactively apply for a specialist lecture on one of the core topics of the event.

Accounting in Europe is going digital. From 27 November 2020, public administrations and federal agencies will accept invoices over 1,000 only in digital XRechnungs-Format or alternatively in ZUGFeRD 2.1.1 format (PDF file with integrated XRechnung-XML file). A standard PDF file or even a printed invoice is no longer sufficient here.

Hypermotion, which would have been Messe Frankfurt's first hybrid event at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds from 10 to 12 November, will be purely digital due to the rapidly increasing number of infections.
