Solukon launches its new SFP770 for automated polymer AM powder removal

The company’s SFP770 system will be demonstrated during the Formnext Connect online exhibition on November 10 – 12, 2020
Solukon Maschinenbau GmbH is launching the latest addition to its line of automated de-powdering systems for the additive manufacturing segment during Formnext Connect on November 10 to 12, 2020. The Solukon SFP770 system is an innovative system for the safe and efficient unpacking and cleaning of parts built on polymer powder bed fusion additive manufacturing systems.

“Our latest system is an automated solution for industrial processing of powder-based AM parts”, said Andreas Hartmann, Technical Director and Co-Founder of Solukon. “With the launch of the SFP770, we bring the benefit of years of experience in the depowdering and unpacking of metal AM parts to polymer AM applications. We look forward to presenting to the AM community our latest innovation in AM powder removal technology, this time for the removal of polymer powders.”
“As with its highly successful line of solutions for metal AM depowdering, the concept for the SFP770 was driven by the needs of its leading customers.” Solukon Co-Founder Dominik Schmid said: “We have applied to polymer depowdering the same rigorous attention to detail, and dedication to the needs of customers, that we have shown in metal powder applications over the years.”
“Our goal is to accelerate post-processing and prevent any exposure to fine polymer powder. With this solution we want to offer an important step towards a highly economical and powder-free shop floor,” he added.
The innovative SFP770 system comprises two principal functions: First, the removal of excess powder while unpacking a full build box from a printing system, and second, a cleaning cycle in which remaining powder is rapidly cleaned off each printed part. Excess powder removed by the system can be recycled for future use. The unpacking function can be supplied with or without the cleaning function, providing maximum flexibility for customers. A fully loaded build box of 150 liters of polymer parts can be unpacked and residual powder removed in about 30 minutes.
“The SFP770 offers significant benefits for customers looking to industrialize their AM operations, such as labor cost savings and health and safety concerns. We are confident that our solution is an important milestone that will meet the needs of customers seeking to take their AM manufacturing operations to the next level. Additive manufacturing is expected to offer the same seamless, industrialized processes that manufacturers enjoy in traditional manufacturing operations. We are ready to play an important role in the industrialization of this fast-growing industry”, said Michael Sattler Global Sales Director.
The development of the SFP770 is the result of a successful collaboration with a long- standing customer of Solukon. The system is already running successfully at the customer's site, taking another important step towards a highly efficient and powder-free shop floor.
The Solukon team will be available online on each day of Formnext Connect and will livestream visits to the Solukon facility to display all of its metal systems. The team will also be available for one-on-one meetings by prearrangement.
