Expo Finefood 2014 Sneak Peek

Undoubtedly, food is the first necessity of people's daily lives. It not only depends on the internal demands of the traditional food service industry, but also has been propelled by Western culinary culture. As one of the largest, most effective and highest level exhibitions in the hospitality industry, HOTELEX Shanghai will be held from 31 March to 3 April 2014 at Shanghai New International Expo Center. Expo Finefood, as the most important part of HOTELEX, will have an exhibition area of over 45,000 SQM, with many exciting world-level events.

Quality makes all the difference

"Quality", "Green" and "Wholesomeness" have become the three hip concepts in the food industry nowadays. Expo Finefood has always concentrated on bringing the most qualified food ingredients onto the show floor in order to meet the demands from high-end restaurants and star hotels.

It is reported that the exhibition area of Expo Finefood 2014 has sold over 40,000 SQM and promisingly will have more than 30% growth over last year. There are over 450 exhibitors intending to participate in Expo Finefood 2014. Exhibitor categories include: bakery & ice cream, coffee & tea, beverages, wine & spirits, cooking ingredients, etc.

With the growth of Expo Finefood, more and more famous companies have started to participate. The Food category will include: Zhengzhuhui, Wushi, Xinmeixiang, Otsuka and Malaysia pavilion. Beverage and Food Ingredients will include: Fresh Juice, Super Goldrich, Guang Cun, Meiweiwang, Huiyuan, Weiquan, Guangming, Nestle, Fabbri and Carpigiani. Additionally, many exhibitors such as Otsuka, Baishile, Da Ying and Chengyu have increased their exhibition areas.

World-level competitions attract foot traffic

As the main theme exhibition of HOTELEX, Expo Finefood is packed with exciting events that broadcast the most cutting-edge hospitality trends and feature the most influential industry opinion leaders. Exciting events play as a perfect platform for new concept launches and product showcases to connect both exhibitors' and visitors' demands.

China Barista Championship (CBC)

China Barista Championship (CBC) is the exclusive professional competition authorized by WBC. CBC aims to provide a platform for coffee professionals and enthusiasts to share, compete and celebrate.

CBC was introduced to China by Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo in 2003. It has become the cradle of up-and-coming young coffee professionals in China. CBC has marched into her 12th year with 20 division competitions covering the East, North and Southwest regions of China. Champions representing 20 division competitions will gather at HOTELEX Shanghai 2014 to battle it out for the exclusive spot to compete at WBC 2014.

KamCha Competition

Milk tea, as one of the local specialties of Hong Kong, is not only a daily necessity of Hong Kong people's lives, but has also become the typical representation of Hong Kong-style cuisine. The 6th KamCha Competition east China division will be held during HOTELEX Shanghai & Expo Finefood 2014, where one can witness the mastery of KamCha right there on the show floor.

2014 Shanghai Pizza Master Competition

Organized by Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo Int'l Exhibition Co., Ltd and Dr. Pizza, Shanghai Pizza Master Competition will be held during HOTELEX 2014, occupying about 300 SQM of the competition area. A delicious pizza is all about choosing fresh ingredients, excellent skill and advanced bakery equipment. Through the fantastic throwing performance, the Shanghai Pizza Master Competition aims to create a visual feast of Western traditional handmade pizza culture.

China Gelato Championship

In order to provide a platform for gelato professionals and enthusiasts to share, compete and celebrate, the 2014 China Gelato Championship will be held again during Expo Finefood 2014, co-organized by Masters of Italian Gelateria (MGI), and supported by the Embassy of Italy to the People's Republic of China, Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai. The brilliant judging panel will gather the heavyweights of the gelato industry with the purpose of passing on the gelato culture in China.

"I'm Chef" China Bakery Master Championship

"I'm Chef" China Bakery Master Championship will make its debut at HOTELEX 2014, featuring over 100 contenders and their sugary masterpieces right on the show floor. The competition will showcase fondant art, chocolate making and wedding cakes made according to the latest trends and using the newest technology. The event aims to provide bakery knowledge and inspire the creation of China bakery professionals by creating a cradle for rising professionals.
