Innovation and investment characterise 25th anniversary of BAGS BY RIEDLE

It was going to be a special evening. The young man had already bought the bottle of champagne, no small investment in his early 20s. On the way to the rendezvous it happens: The bag tears, the bottle smashes and all expectations flow away with the champagne. An accident with far-reaching consequences and a happy end. The tragic event leads to the foundation of Bags by Riedle on May 5, 1995. The adored is still the wife of managing director Volker Riedle.

Still in this fateful night, the ambitious paper and printing technician decides to develop the best paper bags of his time. Two years and 147 experimental models later, in the cellar of his parents' house, he produced the prototype of a new generation of paper bags, which finally combined the greatest possible stability, maximum elegance and best wearing comfort.
In addition, Riedle's vision from the very beginning was to position the paper carrier bag in the market as a sustainable long-term advertising ambassador and coveted image carrier and to establish it as an indispensable advertising classic. As a "brand for brands" the quality standards for the reusable paper carrier bag were therefore defined uncompromisingly at the highest level.
Due to its success, the company quickly reached its spatial limits and so the "paper pioneer", as Riedle is often called due to his burning passion for material and product, made the plan to build a new company headquarters in his home town ten years after the company was founded. Even then it was clear that the building had to represent the built identity of the company in line with the corporate architecture.
From the very beginning, the company has been characterized by a very special innovative strength and thanks to its stringent brand management, Bags by Riedle has been able to successfully assert itself in the highly competitive environment to this day. In the last 5 years alone, special products from the portfolio have received a total of ten nominations and international awards in the categories of innovative strength, communicative performance and sustainability.
The company received the most recent "Top 10 Printers of the Year" award in the Innovation category from the magazine "Druck & Medien", a leading trade journal in the printing industry. The reasoning behind the award is: "Riedle's new CI is unusual and appealing. Volker Riedle has managed to turn a low-interest product into a sought-after design article". The statement refers to the very own transformation that Bags by Riedle had completed in October 2018.
Due to the digitalization and internationalization of markets, the number of suppliers in the paper bag industry has also increased exorbitantly at a rapid pace. As a result, the procurement market for printed advertising bags and trade fair bags made of paper has become increasingly opaque. One day the time had come for Riedle to make the company's decision to specialize in paper even more important than before. The analysis of the individual value profile and the clear elaboration of the competences for which Bags by Riedle has been known for many years resulted in a focused profile which the leading paper bag company would be guided by in the future. This is how the new brand world "RIEDLE Paper Bag Maker" was created, including the elaborately designed key visual with which Bags by Riedle presents itself today. In the brand space, the honeycomb structure as the most stable natural design symbolizes the high quality and durability of the paper bags.
Riedle has defined its own sustainability concept as follows: "For us, a product is sustainable if it is manufactured exclusively from a material of natural origin, passes through an absolutely resource-saving process chain, can be reused several times at most and returns to nature unencumbered at the end of its life cycle. The company provides proof of this through various environmental and quality certificates, all of which make the company's commitment publicly visible via special tracking IDs. To mark its anniversary, the company is going one step further and will commission its own photovoltaic system on its 25th birthday.
In this way, innovation and investment, also in this and in many respects special year, strengthen the foundation of the successful company.
