As of 01 August 2021, Stephan Schmitz, Head of Purchasing at Sihl GmbH, will fill the newly created position of ESG Director for the Sihl Group in addition to his current area of responsibility.
"Environmental Social Governance" (ESG) stands for social responsibility in the sense of sustainable business. At Sihl, this includes reducing environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, focusing on sustainable energy sources and recyclable materials and products, as well as occupational health and safety for employees, social commitment and corporate governance.
"Protecting our environment, the health of our employees and social responsibility are important building blocks of our success and the guiding principles of our actions. As a company, we aim to achieve an ESG rating by the beginning of 2022, which clearly documents that we are seriously addressing the issue. For this reason, we have created the new position of ESG Director for the Sihl Group, which Stephan Schmitz will take over from August," explains Peter K. Wahsner, CEO of the Sihl Group.
"The aim of this function will be to further develop and concretise our company's ESG strategy and to implement it throughout the Sihl Group. This is another important step in our efforts to become a sustainable company," Stephan Schmitz describes his new task.
