NTT Communications (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT (NYSE: NTT) Group, held a ceremony today to celebrate the launch of its fourth state-of-the-art Rimba Digital 2 - Global Solution Center & Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center, just two years after launching the Rimba Digital - Technology Center & Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center. The event was officiated by Mr. Akira Arima, President and CEO of NTT Com.
Following the success of Rimba Digital, the new Rimba Digital 2 facility features the NTT Com Global Solution Center and the Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center to meet customer needs based on an outstanding service model. The Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center is NTT Com's fourth data center in Malaysia and its 146th worldwide, marketed under the global brand Nexcenter. It also is the company's second green performing data center in Malaysia, after the Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center.
Amid rising needs for IT outsourcing, the demand for interconnected, advanced and managed data center services is growing. Industry experts expect demand for data center facilities and services will continue to remain strong over the next few years. Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 will meet this demand with high-value services in Malaysia, one of the world's top-three destinations for IT outsourcing, backed by strong government support.
President & CEO of NTT MSC Sdn Bhd Malaysia, Mr. Fumitoshi Imaizumi, said, "Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 offers customers from all sectors, particularly the Financial Services Industry, with a large number of cutting-edge features like enhanced data security for high integrity, reliability and performance, as well as extra-fast, extra-stable connectivity for customers looking to outsource their data management and communication systems. Similar to Malaysia Cyberjaya 3, this latest facility features tenantable office space at its NTT Com Global Solution Center, providing customers with space for remote offices or backup sites, a unique service among data centers in this region. Based on NTT Com's policy of adopting best practices for its data centers, Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 facility offers cost competitive advantages to its customers who seek to lower their operational costs. In addition, its flexible cabling system enables customers to virtually expand facilities or modify functionality in the ever-changing IT environment. The Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center offers cutting-edge technologies for services that can exceed customer expectations. It caters to high-density colocation of 3kW or above, enabling customers to optimize information storage, backed by NTT Com's assured management of physical infrastructure and cooling. The facility is designed with 42,000 square feet of white space for future infrastructure expansion, eliminating the need for NTT Com to finance and build another facility. In addition, a water mist system provides excellent primary fire suppression and modular designing assures cost-effective, business-friendly outsourcing.
The Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center has a total floor space of 87,000 square feet, a twofold increase compared to the Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center. The extra space will easily accommodate higher human capacity, providing a comfortable working area offering a number of useful amenities to support daily operations. These include the Network Operation Center (NOC), security room, meeting rooms, pantry, staging areas, lockers, tape storage room and washrooms. Extra-robust security includes a mantrap in the main entrance to suites featuring a loading bay with interlocking roller shutters to prevent unauthorized access.
The facility also features NTT Com's advanced cloud platform, leveraging the company's cloud technologies in line with its Global Cloud Vision 2015. Cloud-based services and applications available through the new data center offer many advantages for customers that require cost optimal solutions for installation and maintenance of on-premises equipment, or a value for money space allocation. NTT Com's global seamless services supported by growing data center infrastructure are increasingly deploying cloud technologies to enable businesses to realize enhanced productivity and competitiveness in the highly competitive global marketplace.
Like other NTT Com data centers, the Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center is certified to the latest global standards, including TIA-942 Tier 3 equivalence, ISO27001:2005, GBI, LEED and PCIDSS. In addition, the new facility is also in compliance with the Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessment (TVRA), reflecting NTT Com's due diligence in housing critical business systems and ensuring their appropriateness for financial business purposes. Thus satisfying the growing demands for thorough certification to ensure service trustworthiness, especially in the areas of physical and information security. Through these and other certifications, NTT Com is maximizing confidentiality, integrity and availability in combination with excellent functionality and usability for its customers.
The new Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center is a self-owned, self-built and self-operated facility that reflects NTT Com's commitment to constructing its own infrastructure based on strong technical expertise to fulfill standard or customized requirements in accordance with the customer's needs. Equipped with fully redundant power and cooling systems, advanced fire detection and suppression systems, on-site round-the-clock support from data center experts and enhanced security access, the Malaysia Cyberjaya 4 Data Center is truly the No. 1 choice for global ICT solutions.
