Foundation of the non-profit ClimatePartner Foundation
On the climate protection platform ClimatePartner YOU, private individuals can become active against climate change
ClimatePartner, international solution provider and one of the pioneers in climate protection for companies, has established the ClimatePartner Foundation. The aim of this non-profit organisation is to offer private individuals a simple and effective solution to become active against climate change. To this end, it is developing the ClimatePartner YOU climate protection platform, where users can find out about their options for influencing climate change and take direct action.
Immediate rethinking and action is needed to ensure that the effects of the climate change that is already beginning to take place can be controlled for future generations and that the basis of human life can continue to exist. Not only business and industry, but also private individuals can and must reduce their CO2 emissions in order to achieve the UN's 1.5°C target.
Tristan A. Foerster, Managing Director of ClimatePartner and co-founder of the ClimatePartner Foundation, explains: "We are observing an increasing awareness of the issue of climate protection among the population. Many people want to take action against climate change, but they lack a simple and effective solution to do so. ClimatePartner has been supporting companies for over 15 years in calculating, reducing and offsetting their emissions. We now want to make this experience in climate protection accessible to private individuals and are therefore launching ClimatePartner YOU, an initiative to achieve the 1.5°C target.".
With ClimatePartner as initiator, the Foundation can build on a great deal of expertise when it comes to collecting and calculating emissions data, knowledge of climate protection technologies and the reliable and transparent development of climate protection projects.
The platform is to be launched in Germany, Austria and Switzerland before autumn 2020 and will then be gradually extended to other European countries. In order to give the initiative the necessary clout, Gerrit Mewes, former founder of Rocket Internet and the recycling marketplace METALSALE, was won over for the project. He will drive the development of ClimatePartner YOU together with the two other co-founders Tristan A. Foerster and Moritz Lehmkuhl.
