Energy savings of up to 80 percent
More than 50 joint projects completed in 30 years
technotrans and OTTO FUCHS are international heavyweights in their respective industries - with a common home in Meinerzhagen: the companies have been working together locally for more than a quarter of a century and have completed around 50 joint projects in that time. The construction of a large-scale cooling plant with a seven-figure order volume for the new OTTO FUCHS foundry marks the largest project of both companies to date.
It all began with the development and installation of a cooling tower system at the end of the 1980s. The comparatively small project laid the foundation for a close and cooperative partnership that has since spanned more than 30 years. Today, the projects have completely different dimensions: At the Meinerzhagen site, OTTO FUCHS invested in a foundry extension in 2019 to increase production capacities. The cooling system for these foundries was supplied by technotrans. The new cooling system consists of a container solution that measures 22 x 6 x 7 metres and generates a cooling capacity of two megawatts. By way of comparison, a new detached house has a heating power requirement of around 8 to 9 kilowatts.

Despite this magnitude, the plant is extremely energy-efficient. An operating cost calculation carried out in advance proves that OTTO FUCHS saves up to 80 percent energy compared to standard concepts available on the market, depending on the load. "We were particularly pleased with the project. Not only because it is the largest of its kind with OTTO FUCHS, but also because we were able to operate at a very high technical level and implement the best possible solution - without making any compromises," says Fabian Heuel, Division Manager Sales and Member of the Management Board of technotrans solutions GmbH, Meinerzhagen.
The successful and rapid completion of the project in the middle of the corona pandemic was made possible in particular by the many years of close cooperation that have turned OTTO FUCHS and technotrans into a well-coordinated team. Florian Franze, Project Engineer Supply at OTTO FUCHS, also emphasises this: "With technotrans, the whole package is simply right: the physical proximity at the joint location in Meinerzhagen, the pragmatic coordination, the comprehensive expertise in the area of thermal management and the trusting cooperation. We are very satisfied with the solution developed by technotrans."
