Kronos Foods Enters Greek Yogurt Market

Now USDA-Certified Dairy Facility, Greek Yogurt Packaged Specifically for Food Service Industry

Kronos Foods, Inc., a leading manufacturer of premium gyros and other Mediterranean and specialty foods, announced today that it has received USDA-certification as a dairy facility and will begin producing Greek yogurt specifically for the food service industry.

As the only USDA-certified facility in the Chicagoland area to produce both meat and dairy products, Kronos now has the capacity to produce the popular Greek yogurt daily for food service providers nationally. Offered in 2-packs of 64-oz. containers, the product allows food service operators to easily create Greek yogurt menu items or utilize it as a recipe ingredient. According to consumer data tracker Nielsen, Greek yogurt sales have surged more than 100 percent in the last three years, while non-Greek yogurt has grown at a single-digit pace.

"While market data shows that consumers are quickly embracing Greek yogurt as a healthy alternative option in their homes, the biggest opportunity for Kronos is in the food service industry," said Howard Eirinberg, president, Kronos Foods, Inc. "Greek yogurt is a much healthier alternative to mayo and sour cream in sandwich spreads, salad dressings, dips, side dishes and desserts without compromising the recipe's flavor. By using Greek yogurt, chefs and food service providers can meet consumer demand for taste and lower fat items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert."

Beyond delivering a thick and creamy texture typically synonymous with Greek yogurt, Kronos' product also delivers a number of health benefits, including:

-- Twice the protein of regular yogurt (Kronos Greek Yogurt has 16 grams

vs. 8 grams of protein found in regular yogurt.)

-- Contains live, active cultures and pro-biotics

-- No cholesterol and is fat free

-- Grade A and Kosher

-- All-natural

-- No added sugar

-- Vitamin D added
