"The health and well-being of Staples associates is paramount to the company's success," said John Burke, chief culture officer, Staples, Inc. "We're investing in our greatest asset, our associates, to make sure they have a world-class work environment and the resources they need to feel fit and energized."

The health and fitness center is 9,500 square feet, and is professionally staffed and managed by industry leader, Plus One Health Management. The smoke-free campus features an outdoor terrace and lawn area right outside of the fitness center, where employees are working, eating, team-building, and staying physically fit with activities like the Boot Camp training and 5k races. The terrace abuts the corporate headquarters parking garage, which has a previously announced a 685 kilowatt solar power installation, as well as electric vehicle charging, a sign of Staples commitment to sustainability.

Also today, Staples announced the creation of the Staples Share Fund, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization founded and funded by associate and corporate contributions, that offers relief for Staples associates in need of financial assistance due to events such as natural disasters, catastrophic events or other circumstances beyond their control. Staples has generously agreed to match contributions up to $1 million, which has already been used to provide relief to dozens of associates affected by severe weather and personal tragedy, and associates can continue to contribute by signing up for payroll deduction or making a one-time donation.

"The Staples Share Fund is another way for our associates to be able to help out their co-workers in their time of need, and make a difference in the Staples community, something Staples employees are always looking to do," Burke said.

All of the recent additions to the corporate office, as well as the roll-out of the Staples Share Fund, will help Staples continue to be a great place to work and attract top talent to come and join the Staples team.
