Contact Originators, the UK's leading manufacturer of artwork for the graphic arts industry and of flexographic printing plates, with a focus on corrugated and flexible packaging, has announced a £5 billion investment in new buildings and equipment.
In January 2020, the company was the victim of a fire that destroyed one of two buildings at its previous site in Bredbury, Stockport. Although 40% of manufacturing capacity and some ancillary facilities were lost in the fire, the business continued to grow with the help of some industry colleagues. The company is now moving to a new site of just over 2600 m2 in Dukinfield, Manchester, just 8 km away.
Steve Mulcahy, CEO Contact Originators Group, said: "In 2020, the company has clearly been through hot times, both because of the fire and the Covid situation. And yet we have had incredible support from both our teams and the industry. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone again for their support!
Despite the challenges, we have worked hard to ensure that business was as usual for our customers and we have honed our plans to take the Contact company vision and strategy to the next level.
We are therefore delighted to confirm today that our new super location is waiting for us to move. Contact is building the future of flexo prepress production with the latest innovations from our technology partners and by building a fully streamlined and automated plant".
With the Bredbury site remaining operational during the transition period, Contact Originators has the opportunity to establish a state-of-the-art office, studio and production facility in Dunkinfield for its 74 employees.
