Automated and connected – Horizon at drupa 2024

Horizon will have a strong presence at drupa 2024: The finishing specialist will be showcasing the print finishing of the future on more than 1,600 m². The focus will be on fully automated systems and end-to-end workflows, supplemented by robotics and intelligent transport systems to optimise the efficiency of workflows. The link here is both the cloud-based workflow management service iCE LiNK and Horizon's close cooperation with industry partners.

In eight live presentations a day, visitors to booth F21 in hall 6 will experience easy-to-operate, fully automated systems that blend seamlessly into integrated production lines and harmonise perfectly with both offset and digital printing.
Smart book production
In the field of perfect binding, Horizon will be presenting various systems for inline book production of short to medium runs. Both processing from the roll and cut-sheet applications will be on show, some directly connected to digital printing systems. The processing of conventional signatures will also be shown - both for the production of softcover books and book blocks for hardcover production. To demonstrate automated processes like in a smart factory, previously folded signatures are palletised by a robot arm and transported by an AGV for further processing - without manual intervention.
Fully automated booklet production
Horizon's reliable StitchLiner series proves how easy fully automated booklet production can be: visitors can look forward to job changes with different booklet thicknesses, consistent quality and no set-up times. Various feeding systems allow digitally printed rolls and sheets as well as conventionally produced printing sheets to be processed.
Further highlights
In addition to interesting new features for existing systems, a new perfect binder and a new booklet maker will also celebrate their world premiere at drupa 2024.
All exhibited machines will also be connected to iCE LiNK. In addition to monitoring the production status of each individual machine in real time, the cloud-based workflow service also enables preventive maintenance management and sending job data to the machine. To ensure a smooth workflow from prepress to finishing, Horizon maintains close partnerships with all well-known workflow and software specialists.
