The German branch of LONGO is completely focused on digital printing. Thanks to the Keyline print shop management software, the team is able to keep track of even the large number of jobs with small and very small print runs.

High-volume orders are handled in offset printing at the headquarters in South Tyrol, and runs of up to 1,000 copies in digital printing at the German branch in Augsburg - this is the division of labour at LONGO.
The company has long since ceased to see itself as a pure printing company, but as a media service provider with a comprehensive range of services. In addition to the most varied print products, the portfolio also includes, for example, the production of promotional products, online marketing and more.
30 corporate printing portals
LONGO Deutschland operates corporate printing portals for currently 30 customers in addition to classic commercial printing. They are based on the Magento shop system and support the individual business processes of each customer in their corporate design.
Customer employees use these portals to order standardized print products such as business cards, forms, flyers, brochures and much more. Helfried Prünster, Managing Director of LONGO Germany: "By means of these portals, our customers optimize their print procurement and at the same time ensure their uniform appearance.
The challenge here is the often very small print runs. According to Prünster, sometimes only one copy is ordered - the team then speaks of very small or even micro runs. Without highly efficient processes, this is not economically feasible.
Added to this is the broad spectrum of substrates. LONGO Deutschland, for example, also offers printing on PET material, films, fabric or metal - this variety also needs to be managed.
Everything under control with Keyline
Managing such processes was the domain of classic MIS systems. LONGO Germany also used such a solution, but it was too slow and costly. Thus, two employees were only occupied with entering orders. In addition, it was not possible to map the entire process from order acceptance to production, shipping and post-calculation "end-to-end".
Keyline is quite different, with its holistic approach covering all stages of the value-added chain in the printing industry. This is supported by the open architecture, which allows Keyline to be integrated with other applications and machines.
Live test created an aha effect
This is an advantage when deciding on a system: The team was able to put Keyline through its paces as a cloud-based application with full functionality. Prünster remembers: "It was a real aha effect for us that we had already set up functioning processes with Keyline after only two days". The clear structure of Keyline and the simple operation, which Prünster describes as "simply casual", also played a significant role in this.
