For years, Kyocera Document Solutions has stood for climate-friendly document processes. In addition to climate-neutral toner, which the company has been offering since 2013, the CO2 emissions of the hardware have also been successfully offset for six months. At the turn of the fiscal year, Kyocera draws a positive balance and, thanks to the revised Print Green programme, can report over 250,000 tonnes of CO2, which will be offset by investments in international climate protection projects in Kenya, Madagascar and Nepal.
"For many years, Kyocera has stood for particularly resource-saving and environmentally friendly document processes," says Stephen Schienbein, Sales Director at Kyocera. "The success we have achieved so far with our Print Green programme shows that we are on a very good path here."
Now Kyocera is going one step further and has also had the CO2 footprint (Corporate Carbon Footprint) for the company headquarters in Meerbusch calculated according to the international standard of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and has made it climate-neutral for 2020. This not only compensates for the emissions caused - thanks to detailed analysis, the largest CO2 emitters were also identified and possible savings potential identified.
"The conservation of natural resources and the issue of sustainability are firmly anchored in our corporate philosophy. We have always acted according to the principle of avoidance before reduction before compensation," Schienbein recalls.
In addition to the strategic expansion of its own commitment to climate protection, Kyocera is working with other companies, NGOs and ministries in various initiatives to anchor the topic of climate protection more firmly in German business and to promote it, including "Business does climate protection" and the Alliance for Development and Climate.
