Smithers Pira: Stora Enso, SABMiller, Ball Packaging, Kraft Foods and others to address the Pira Packaging Summit 2012

Smithers Pira have announced the agenda for their 3rd annual Pira Packaging Summit, held in association with Packaging News

Despite uncertainty surrounding the future of the European economy, the global packaging market is predicted to grow by 3% per annum, with sales set to exceed $800 billion by 2016 according to Smithers Pira. For firms to position themselves to take advantage of this growth potential, executives need to understand how a wide range of drivers will co-relate to create the packaging market of the future. The Pira Packaging Summit is a leadership forum which brings together senior decision-makers throughout the industry to discuss these key strategic challenges and long term strategies for success.

Held in association with Packaging News, this year's conference is taking place 13-14 November, London Hilton on Park Lane, and precedes the UK Packaging Awards, the biggest and most prestigious awards ceremony for the packaging sector.

The programme features PwC and Moorgate Capital who will highlight what economic and market factors, both current and future, as well as recent M&A activity signify for the packaging market of tomorrow. Insight from Smithers Pira, Ball Packaging and SABMiller will be provided on what the future holds in terms of disruptive technologies, utilising social media and opportunities in digital printing.

Perspectives from Kraft and Stora Enso will be given on how packaging companies can successfully collaborate throughout the supply chain, and P&G, Wilkinson, Metro and PepsiCo will reveal what end-users want from packaging suppliers. Many other industry leading figures will feature on the programme, culminating with the closing keynote by Helene Roberts, Executive Director Retail Europe, Sealed Air, addressing the ultimate question – can packaging be a sustainable business?

Ohto Nuottamo, Senior Packaging Advisor, Stora Enso, expressed the following in anticipation of the event:

"I am especially excited about this year's conference, and am impressed by the standard of the programme and the wide coverage of topics that it will address. To me the Pira Packaging Summit will be a great opportunity to meet with influencers from across the value network, to really address the issues facing the industry as a whole and move forward collaboratively"
