G&D at the African Banknote Conference with its Complete Portfolio

Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), one of the main sponsors of the African Banknote Conference taking place on November 16-19 in Cape Town, is to present the company's entire solution and product portfolio surrounding banknotes as well as to give the opening talk along with two other presentations.

"The African continent is an important business partner for us," emphasized Ralf Wintergerst, Member of the G&D Management Board and Group Executive Banknote. "We have longstanding and close business relationships with a number of African central banks as well as central bank print works which we support in securing a functioning currency system from which the respective population can benefit. The African Banknote Conference is an ideal platform for us to strengthen and develop these relationships as well as present our entire solution product portfolio throughout the cash cycle."
In his opening presentation "How Currency and Mobile Money Connect", the G&D Group Executive Banknote illustrated how the two payment methods complement each other, especially in Africa. He also underlined the similarities, for example, the innovative technology that characterizes both the mobile payment as well as a banknote along with the fact that the two payment methods only work if the user trusts the respective means of payment.
G&D also gave other presentations demonstrating what the optimum integration of security features in a banknote must look like to allow normal customers as well as banks, teller manufacturers, and cash-in-transit companies to reap the maximum benefits. The G&D subsidiary Louisenthal Hybrid presented a substrate that extends the durability of particularly worn banknotes. In addition to the presentations, the optically variable RollingStar security thread, the latest concepts for future security elements as well as quality inspection solutions for the BPS X9 were presented.
