If it comes to outstanding innovations for the industrial cutting they are usually made by DIENES. That also applies to the new two-piece paper cutting knife VARIO-CUT. The knife system, for which the patent is pending, provides print shops and machine manufacturers a significant plus when it comes to efficiency, variability and safety. VARIO-CUT sets new standards during the knife change, which can be done considerably faster and easier due to the two-piece design and the extreme light weight.

What distinguishes the new paper cutting knife from conventional knife systems is first of all its innovative design, which consists of a two-piece combination of blade and knife holder. The benefits are obvious: If a knife replacement is required for other materials to be cut, the VARIO-CUT blade does not need to be positioned and aligned due to the fixed knife holder. The variable blade itself is available with various angles and grindings and can thus be flexibly adapted to the respective application.
VARIO-CUT also convinces with cutting quality: The DIENES product designers were able to reduce the sliding friction by 70 % due to optimized grinding and a 14.55 % lower blade thickness. The result: reduced needed cutting force, improved service life, easier cutting through thick material, less wear and more reasonable regrinding of the blade.
„We at DIENES are really proud of the extreme low weight of the blade itself which is a mere 10 kg. Thus we enable an easier blade change for our customers." says DIENES Sales Director Dietmar Fritz. And he adds: "When you consider that conventional knives for guillotining usually weigh about 20 kg it becomes clear that our product designers set an entire new standard with VARIO-CUT." The reason for this in addition to the tapering of the blade is most of all the separation of blade and holder. While a traditional knife replacement used to take up to 30 minutes, with VARIO-CUT a replacement of the blade is possible within just a few minutes by only one person. Thank to the easy blade change the operator is able to use the right blade for the respective material and thus increase the service life of the blade. And last but not least also due to the easy change a cleaning of the blade is possible outside the machine.
The new paper cutting knife VARIO-CUT is also highly efficient with regard to repeat orders. The knife has a QR code, which forwards to an online service page, providing information on angles, grindings, spare parts, order numbers and documentation, and direct access is provided to the time- and cost-saving DINES regrinding service.
